Frame sliders

crashed vortex sliders, crashed woodcraft sliders. Both held up well, but the woodcraft are easier and cheaper to fix, also IMO they look better

I crashed with the Woodcraft slider and it was dead easy to replace. No digging out the set screw either, unlike conventional sliders.

to replace a vortex puck you have to take the whole engine mount bolt out. so yeah woodcraft ftw

Yup. Had the new slider puck on in a minute. Besides, their low profile is better to keep the bike from catching and flipping. I read through a whack of slider reviews before settling on the Woodcraft. I'm very happy with my decision, and the replacement puck was cheap too.

I think the mistake people make when deciding on sliders is thinking they're about protecting plastics, so they pick those monstrous ones that stick out from the bike 2-3". Then they crash, the slider gets caught on a curb or something, flips the bike over and does even more damage.

I'm not sure about the whole frame slider flipping a bike thing. IMO the slider or the engine mount bolt would bend or snap before that happened. This 180 km/h crash made the engine mount bolt bend pretty bad in the vortex slider, but the bike never flipped, even after hitting the weeds.

ost the front end braking into T1, started out a wet race but after 7 laps the line was dry - and my rain tires were toast.

^OW! I bet you didn't even know your body could bend that way! I hope you were ok.

I've just read about sliders catching. This may be more salient on the street? My swingarm spool slider dug into the grass and stopped the bike on my slide. Mind you, I couldn't have been going any faster than 80-90 kph coming into T6 when I went down.

Stay away from T-rex. They were a pain in the a** to remove after one of them snapped in half. I actually had to take them to a mechanic to have them heated and cut into piece's to remove the remainder left on my bike.

Check Blue Streak Racing...great Canadian company, purchased a lot with them with no problems whatsoever

I bought these R&G Fame Sliders because I didn't have to cut through the super expensive faring like other sliders. They are easy to install, but it does take some time to remove and reinstall the fairing.

They really stick out huh?
Looked like you did a good job installing them.

P.S. don't know if its the case for your bike but for an F4i you can get No-cut and Cut frame sliders where as the cut frame sliders you have to cut through the fairings. But for us the No-cuts cause more damage then no frame sliders.
A guy I know on the other forum had his bike fall over in a parking lot and it pushed the No-cut frame slider into the engine and caused alot of internal damage.

I hope they arent the same as this guys: http://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-forum-11/dropped-my-bike-morning-118621/

His bike just fell over in a parking lot and the no-cut frame sliders destroyed his engine, Are they mounted directly to the frame or to the frame through a bracket to the frame?
