Flowchart didn't apply?

They know these facts:
2007 Ninja 500. 26 Years old. G1 since 2000. G2 right now. No accidents/tickets in last 3 years. M2 in two weeks. Full G in a month.

Duffy: Quoted me 2500 first year and 1200 after one year. Require G license.
StateFarm Agent 1: 1200/year out the gate. Only required at least 5 years driving experience, G, and ANY M license. Min coverage, no collision.
StateFarm Agent 2: Being difficult. Told me I'm better off calling back when I get my full M2+G and in the season I'm going to ride in.
Jevco via Asger Pedersen Ins Broker Inc: Does not insure the sportsbike .. 400% premium markup.
RidersPlus: $1400 min, 1800 full with collision etc. Didn't care whether I have a G2 or G. Said the next drop in price would be if I hit 30.

All would drop rate if I packaged a car with them.

I got some pretty good rates compared to what everyone is suggesting is normal? Seems a few cared only about a full G.

Ninja 500 makes a big difference. Going from that to a CBR600 would jump your insurance up to what a lot of the people complain about here. I got a quote on a Ninja 500 for under 1000 per year, at 25 years old, full G for over 5 years, M2 and clean record.

I can try and find out who that was with, I ended up going with a different bike and had to go with State Farm. I'll try and get back to you on that one!

Appreciate it. I'll buy you a beer for your efforts! But maybe they will float around 1200 for me to if they consider G length and other things.

Why doesn't the flowchart apply? I get S18 based on your profile (suggesting State Farm, Jevco, or perhaps another standard insurer). Once you obtain your G in a month, State Farm will likely be your best bet in year 1, and then Jevco will probably be cheaper in year 2.

Does not insure the sportsbike .. 400% premium markup.

They screwed up -- the Ninja 500 is NOT considered a sportbike by Jevco. Anyway, in all likelihood the quote given to you by Duffy is through Jevco, so that is the correct quote. Duffy knows bikes well.

Thanks. I was just curious why Ridersplus wasn't listed in S18 because it beat out Jevco easily.

I see. I guess adding Rider's Plus to S18 would be a good idea. I still don't think Rider's Plus will be State Farm for you though, will they? Your SF quote was $1200 (rather than Rider's Plus at $1400)?

Yup you're right. So far it's Statefarm taking the win. But for the sake of accuracy, I just figure the flow chart could be updated, but was't sure if I got a glitch and Rider's made a mistake either. Just trying to add my sample to the pool :)

Funny thing is, Jevco broker that was telling me they didn't do the Ninja told me to check out Riders. I didn't even think of calling up Riders at first because of the flow chart.

The flowchart gives you suggestions on the best places to start calling around, but there might always be something better. The flowchart is a pain to update because GTAM doesn't let us post pics directly to the site. Someday I'll get around to updating that. Thanks :)

And that broker who referred you to Rider's Plus was definitely wrong about the Ninja 500 being a sportbike.

One last note, Duffy was a bit of a bullshiter. I played stupid a little bit and he tried to sneak some past me to convince me to get insurance right now. I thought that was a bit sketchy.

I haven't dealt with Duffy directly, but based on happy members/clients, that doesn't sound like something he would do. He posts here on the forum every once in a while.

Maybe he didn't get his coffee yet. Maybe I was a glitch? He is human after all. Agent 1 from Statefarm was the most helpful so far, and offered the best rate to top that. Emailed me the quote, even discussed how she could see about getting my winter parking pricing over the next winter. Don't really know Duffy as a person, and my comment is soley based on the one phone call.
