Here is my problem in a nutshell, I go to well reviewed motorcycle shop, ask to install new tires, new rear tire installed.

I of course look if my solid metal wheel is looking normal, notice about 3 x 1/2" light but noticeable lines near tire rim. vertical lines
I know they were not there before brought in,(I knew should of taken a photo)store said not there fault,I said I know my low miliage bike.
Now what?? They did say will see if can remove but it's not that easy when they install a front tire ordered, bit confused. thanks

It's not that bad but is noticeable re resale etc., anyone dealt with this problem before, btw rear tire was original from new purchase.
No big deal more of a nuisance, you pay a pro to change a tire and you don't expect this. Now not even sure if to trust them on my front
but they did say would try to remove lines.

This is confusing....are you saying you ordered a front tire and asked them to mount it on the rear?

From what I can tell:
New rear tire installed, noticed damage after install
Ordered front tire, shop said they would "try" to fix rear damage when front came in and they installed.

you said your bike is low miles why did you need a new rear already?

I'm trying to understand this post, my guess is that English is not your first language.

Your wheel got marked up after tire change, this is actually common. They should have taped the rim to prevent marring. Not much you can actually do about it.

ah! I knew there's a simple way to avoid damage! Must remember this and make sure I get my tires changed by someone who will follow this..

I thought my post was straight forward, A) ordered two tires , the rear was installed,B) front tire not installed yet(they had to re-order it for some reason)
C) before I paid for install of rear tire, noticed scrathes, I picked up bike so could ride until a front tire comes in.

I'm bad at spelling but English is really my first language out of two. :)

OK I said low miles, because it was hardly driven when I bought it and am second owner, first lady rider only had 1.5 km, bike is like new. It had a older Dunlop which I replaced because of it's age and possible unseen dry rot, but stock tires looked normal. As a noob did not know about the date codes of tires.

If the bike is the one in your avatar, the factory finish on the rear wheel is kinda crappy to begin with. Looks good new but, doesn't take long to get old. Take a look at bikes of the same model for reference. Any that look good have been polished and refinished or chromed. Or replaced......The front is a spoker so, shouldn't have to worry about that one but, make sure they replace the rim tape. Sometimes moisture sets in from the spoke nipples and causes corrosion. If they don't get cleaned up, you can puncture the tube from inside or have a slow leak etc.

Just ride and don't worry too much about it. If you want to keep it looking new for resell, keep it in the garage. lol. kidding.

With due respect, these are fresh scratch lines, near rim, not a co-incidence I notice after tire installed... I will try to post a picture and thanks for the info.

I would be pretty upset, I could do a better job in my garage without a tire machine, if they cant fix I would ask for new rim.

yes bit upset, and agree with CafeRay also, thanks guys

It almost looks like they sanded the top area and scared to do any more damage?, they likely lied on this one

On the positive side, my new back Mi Commander 2, seems very good gripping tire , I slowly went on all types of road surface and handled good so far but because new will ride slower a few days.Though not really a rainny day rider unless forced to get home.

Your rim got scratched. Move on.

I relize common sense to move on, but do you pay a pro to do" amateur" work, I like keeping my bikes/cars in great condition, I did not buy a rat bike, why impose your view on others, just saying.

By not admitting they made an honest mistake, they lost a ton of my futhure work, bad politics all round.
