Fido contract

Hi everyone,

On Monday May 28th, I signed off on a 3/year plan with Fido that came with the new HTC One S. The reason I took the 3 year plan with Fido, was mainly for work, and my employer was supposed to expense the phone ($165), while I was to pay the plan @ $96/mth.

Yesterday, I received word that my employer purchased me the Galaxy Nexus + fully loaded plan on the Rogers network. (They are paying for the plan+phone).

So.. I'm in a little bit of a bind.

What would be my options in this situation?

To sum it up:

Bought HTC phone + Plan on Monday may 28 @ 3/yrs = $96/mth

Work bought me Galaxy Nexus + Plan yesterday (I don't pay it)

I remember hearing somewhere that you can cancel your plan in the first week?......
Not 100% where I heard that but I would look into it.

Read your contract. You have x number of days from signing up where you can cancel (with a small penalty if not free).

Good luck.

Edit: you have i think 10-15days and 30 mins of usage on the phone, to return it hassle free.

I think bell lets you walk away from the contract within a couple of days from signing, some buyers remorse type deal.(last time i got my phone i think they told me about it) Fido might do the same thing.

I just phoned one of the Fido kiosks, and was told that there is a 15 day grace period. The sales rep also told me, as long as I have not gone over 30 minutes of talk-time, I just pay for the amount I used. If I went over the 30 minutes of talk-time, I pay for the phone @ original price ($649)?? I let my g/f borrow the HTC today, because her charger broke on her last night.

if you speak with rogers ASAP they can cancel your FIdo contract and wave the penalties since they are the same company. and you only had the phone for less than a week you can go cancel everything, most companies give you a 15/30 days trial, unless you get nailed by the 15 days or 30 talk minutes.

my only problem is i very much dislike the galaxy nexus...

you're not paying for it, so who gives a ****? it's just a device.

I think OP is missing the point. Work is giving you a phone, WORK decides what you get, how much they pay in fees, etc. If they want you could just get a nokia flip phone (no smart phone), that is what you get.

Otherwise, ask mom and dad to pay for the HTC, iPhone, or Blackberry that you want because work will not pay for that.

I am so glad I was born without a phone glue to my face, that I lived my teenage years phone free and that the only reason I got a first phone was because mom and dad needed to be able to get a hold of me, this new generation is useless without toys and im only 28

I never really had a phone glued to my face until my 20's. I much prefer not to have a phone glued to my face; if i was to have a phone glued to my face; a phone that will be glued to my face for work, I'd rather have my eyes glued to the HTC one S.

It's been said above, but 15 days / 30 minutes of talk time is the standard. You've obviously had it for less then 15 days, but if you're over 30 minutes (or your gf is) then you are SOL, and will have to pay for the phone. Still cheaper to pay out 649 then 96/m a month for 3 years though.. so either way.. cancel within your 15 days.
