Kimi went very fast when required , stayed mostly out of the buckwheat and had the more reliable Benz .

His engine had a cracked sump in Mexico and started acting up 4 laps from the finish. He backed off to nurse it home, plus he slowed down even more on the last lap because he was crying and couldn't see properly. When they pulled the floor off the car the nooks and crannies were full of oil.

Crying aside, he knew enough ( or the engineers did ) to slow up and get to the finish line.
It’s an old saying but when I was a bit involved in stockcar racing , to finish first … you need to finish. Applies to any game .
I’m really happy for the kid , what impresses me most with F drivers , they seem to have the ability to stay out of the media for stupid behaviour. Not like the Seventies stars that were man whores and drunks , this generation are much better managed . Or better at hiding stuff .

You can't drive the cars now without putting in the gym work (neck/back/shoulders/cardio) and you can't run the times you have to now without counting calories religiously (because your opponents ARE). The only way George is going to beat him next year is if he goes full Nico, because Kimi is the more naturally talented of the two.

Nico did some crazy stuff to win against Hamilton that year and still the only reason that he won was because Hamilton had so many mechanical issues. They also had a car that no one else could come close to.

Kimi did an awesome job this year.
