Exhaust wrap question for a slip on system

[TD="class: dtl"]I have a question about the packing around the exhaust slip on system where the mid pipe joins up with the header. Could I use a exhaust pipe wrap around the inside of the mid pipe that joins up inside the header pipe? Not sure if you can or you need a special material up inside of it.

Why do you want to use Exhaust wrap there? Do you mean a elbow where two pieces meet?

If its two pieces connecting up, you could use something like RTV- HIGH TEMP - exhaust wrap might just blow out eventually. You can even try and use a piece of metal with a clamp to increase the OD of the undersized pipe.

Yes that is what I ment. I just didnt know if there was a material out there that makes up the difference on the two dia.
