Ear Plugs

hey rafiki911...do you remember who made them for you?...all the places i've called are $100 plus...

If they make them for you on the spot they are moulded straight in your ears, those are the $50 ones. You can get kits off Ebay to do this for $20 and you'll get much the same result. For $100 they (a trained audiologist) make a mould of your ear and then the plugs are made from this mould, trimmed and then sent back for fitting with filters in if you want them. They also keep the moulds so you can get extra pairs (for about $40) with different filters or no filters, plus the place I went to will also fit your own earphones into a plug for you too for less than $100.

Bought some of the Max Lite ones on you guys' recommendation. I tried plugs last night for the first time, and I will never ride without them again, thanks folks!

I use whatever. Until recently I even had a 2 yr old white foam set that picked up grime off my fingers and were kinda nasty looking. I generally avoided using them but if I forgot to bring plugs and had those in the pockets I'd wear em anyway because I want to save my hearing. Was a little worried about possibly getting an infection but I've never had an issue. Now I just bought a large container of the orange ones and I just grab a pair once I lose some or leave them in a different jacket.

Yep, I'm sold.

Was very skeptical at first, but gave the foamies a try for a few rides. They didn't give the feeling of being completely disconnected, as I had expected. The clincher was last night, when I went out for a ride with my wife on the back. About two minutes into the ride, I realized I had forgotten the ear plugs, and it was incredibly loud and almost uncomfortable.

It's going to be ear plugs always from now on, for anything but the shortest ride.

Thanks for the tip!

Bump for "skull screw" sources.

Just saw this now, I will have to check my receipts and get back to you. They usually go for $80 plus tax. I asked him for a deal and that is why I payed $50. There is no way you'd be able to get the quality doing it yourself for $20.
