Ducati 1098 or keep the 09 R6

Hi everyone,

I have this nice 2009 R6 Black and Gold pure amazing bike only 6000km on it MINT. So the dealer GP bikes have this 2007 Red Ducati 1098 14 500km.

They will give me 6800$ for the bike and I`ll just have to pay another 6700$ to get the Ducati

Basically thier 6800$ plus 13% would be what I would probably get from a private sale.

Should I keep the R6 or go for the Ducatii. I ride R6's for 6 years already want more power...Is this Ducati better faster than R1.. I never rode R1 or Ducatis 1098..

The Duc is nice but seems too expensive you can probably get a 1198 for close to that money, and the 1198 has most of the glitches (stalling etc.) the 1098 had worked out.

it's never a good deal to do that kind of trade in for upgrade at a dealer, I would suggest selling the r6 in a private sale (looking at the used market you could probably get $7500ish for it right now..) and look for something like the 1098 in a private listing.

That is less than he is being offered 6800+13% = 7864
not a bad price without having to dael with buyers

Do it man. I cant imagine riding R6s for 6 years and not upgrading.

The Duc is a killer bike, TONS of torque, its a monster. Better choice than an R1 imo.

I meant R6s plural... as in multiple ones

You havent had an 09 for 6 years ;)

I think I`ll go dor the DUcati, just want to make sure I wont regret it after... as I love the black and gold 09 r6..

that much $ for a 5 year old bike? grrrr... maybe the reason the 1098 has only 14500kms in 5 years is cuz it's always in the shop lol

i would recommend to go sit on the bike for at least 10 mins. im 6ft tall and it rides perfect for me, but my friend who is 5'6 said it was very uncomfortable for him and he just went around the block. its quite an aggressive riding position

I'm biased for torque and V or L power. No matter what color or how mint and R6 you have, the Duc is sweet. Even if you get raped, I'm not sure if you will regret it. The question is, does the Duc suit you? They are completely different bikes and you might not enjoy riding the Duc. Might look good in the garage or Timmie's parking lot.

Ride it before deciding it's what you really want before making the decision. JMO.

What are you trying to achieve by upgrading? Ducati is a race machine... it's also a much better chick magnet in front of Timmies than R6.

If you want it and can afford it -- get it. I'm guessing you already know you want it..

One of two things will happen: 1/ You love it and never regret the purchase 2/ You find you don't really like it and sell it for a slight loss and get something else
