Dropped helmet.. Is it pooched?

So yesterday I decide to pull the squid move and place my helmet on my mirror rather than the ground while I searched for something in my back pack.... Obviously it it falls off and makes contact with the pavement on the top right side of the helmet... Just wondering if my x11 is pooched or am I just over thinking this entire thing?

It's probably time for an X-11 to be replaced anyway (5 years for the manufacturing date) but if your head wasn't in it the eps liner didn't compress and if there are no visible cracks it "should" be okay.

It's likely ok if it is not cracked.
What you don't want is the EPS liner compressed, then the helmet is useless.
I think Shoei will inspect a helmet for free, but email them and ask.

Most people don't realize the force in a 5 foot standing drop, but that's how hundreds have died by slipping on ice while walking.

the only damage was a few little chips in the paint, very minor. Most of the damage happened to the back plastic wing.. If your familiar with the x11 you will know what I'm talking about

send it off to Shoei for inspection.

They will xray it, and deem it safe or not. I had my RF1000 done when i crashed at TMP a few years ago.

I had my head scanned after my crash. They didn't find anything.

True, but there is alot more force of a head and body hitting the ground from a slip then a helmet by itself.

I know that Shoei factory is located in Japan. Did you send it right there or some of their big vendors in North America?
Kinda good to know for future.
