D-Day

One of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever experienced was standing and looking at the American cemetery at Omaha Beach. Over 10,000 pristine white crosses in perfectly spaced rows on a perfectly manicured lawn, each one representing a son, a brother, a friend, a father, a partner. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. Anyone that trashes the US for various reasons should see that and maybe it will temper their opinion, Yes, there are other countries that sacrificed and other cemeteries but that one moment put into perspective the gravity and scale of the situation in Europe and the enormous sacrifice and commitment that was made to save it.
