I'm looking for someone/somewhere to do some custom work on my 1984 Nighthawk. Looking to ton it up but I'm mechanically inept. Can anyone help / have any suggestions?
yeah... you are probably better picking one up that is already made
I took a stock '72 cb750 and cafe'd it out.
New front end: $300 (from a guy that crashed his bike, so the 'real' cost is probably much higher)
Cafe seat: $150
Brake light: $60
Smaller battery: $80
DIY seat: $50
Headlight: $110
Mirrors: $60
Clipons: $140
Steering Head Bearings: $100
Tires: $180
Exhaust: $200
Plus all the consumables: carb cleaners, lubes, oil, shop towels
Plus welding for the rear frame hoop ($50 for the hoop + $tbd labour); custom made oil tank ($tbd)
I'd consider this a relatively cheap build. But it nickel and dimed me at every turn.
So, my build started out as a stock-ish cb750. Blown rings in two cylinders but started and did actually run.

It now looks like this:

The only things I couldn't do myself in my own garage with a modest set of hand tools were the custom oil tank and the front fender (I don't have a welder).
Going to go and get some decent pics done sometime, but it'll have to be after this freak snow storm.
