Custom work for classic Honda

Where abouts are you located? Will help in recommending a shop for you.

What's your budget? Cost or custom work will easily surpass what you paid for your bike.

The truth is I wanted to get a bigger bike but I recently moved to Canada and insurance rates in this country make me want to crawl into a cave and die. So I figured why not give an old lady some love. I paid $1400 for it last year and rode it all summer, she's great, and I guess I'd be willing to put in roughly 1500 maybe more.

Basically....taking parts off, change out handle bars, rebuilding a seat, paint some wheels...how hard can it be?...lol. Drive it around in the rain one day and wonder why the hell did I do this to a perfectlly good bike?
Just sayin..

I was inept mechanically, but a lot of time on niche forums and YouTube, I rebuilt a Honda from scratch. Now i actually know what a carb is because of the time I spent taking it apart and sketching diagrams so I could put it back together. Granted I have a garage, but everything you want to do are the easy DIY projects.

I took a stock '72 cb750 and cafe'd it out.
New front end: $300 (from a guy that crashed his bike, so the 'real' cost is probably much higher)
Cafe seat: $150
Brake light: $60
Smaller battery: $80
DIY seat: $50
Headlight: $110
Mirrors: $60
Clipons: $140
Steering Head Bearings: $100
Tires: $180
Exhaust: $200

Plus all the consumables: carb cleaners, lubes, oil, shop towels

Plus welding for the rear frame hoop ($50 for the hoop + $tbd labour); custom made oil tank ($tbd)

I'd consider this a relatively cheap build. But it nickel and dimed me at every turn.

Post a pic of your creation!!

So, my build started out as a stock-ish cb750. Blown rings in two cylinders but started and did actually run.

It now looks like this:

The only things I couldn't do myself in my own garage with a modest set of hand tools were the custom oil tank and the front fender (I don't have a welder).

Going to go and get some decent pics done sometime, but it'll have to be after this freak snow storm.
