Crossing into USA and back

Hey guys, I am trying to plan a trip out to ride the green eyed snake. I have a couple concerns and wondering if anyone can assist.

We are planning to load 2 bikes into a pickup and travel to Charlotte to unload there.

Question 1 is am I going to have problems crossing into the us with my pickup and the 2 bikes (all vehicles plated and insured) are there any importing or exporting complications? We obviously intend to come back with everything we bring in.

Question 2 , I am contemplating only getting a temp sticker as my current sticker is expired and has been for a couple years. My birthday is in Oct, the only reason I'm driving this truck is for this trip and I would have to pay for the full year for a 2013 sticker plus emission testing.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Ensure you have all your registrations (bikes & trucks) ready when u cross the border.

Other than that, have CAA and also what CafeRay said.... travel insurance.

travel insurance for sure, I was more concerned with the temp sticker and crossing.

Travel insurance. Get it. Emergency medical is cheap. I went to the US for 5 days and it cost me $13 through Scotiabank.

Make sure you read the insurance policy, and look out for deductables, caps and "pre-existing conditions". Canadians are naive about US health costs and insurance. It's not at all like Ontario, just because you paid for some insurance does not mean you will not incur costs. And if you had a previous hospital stay for a crash, they will consider that pre-existing for some injuries and just won't pay.

Be aware that if you make a large health insurance claim in the US, the first thing the insurance company does is hire private investigators to check for your medical history. Many times, they will just deny payment and require you hire a lawyer. The people who defend this system are the ones who haven't had to use it, and most Americans have health costs debts, despite insurance. It's normal to them.

I saw too many legitimate claims refused, which is why I no longer ride a bike or bicycle in the US, or ski there.

i.e. If you break a leg in a crash, and they find out you had another injury on that leg at some point in your life, they will refuse payment. This is $26,000 and up.

Had a cancerous mole removed at 16? No cancer insurance the rest of your life.
