Hi all. I'm going to be needing a Corbin seat pretty soon for a new bike. I'm tryng to get everything in order by the long weekend. Do you guys know of any local shops, or at least Canadian websites where I can buy one right away? Do you know what the turnover to buy directly from Corbin is? Thanks for any info.

I worked with Chris from Dynamics to get mine. 6-8 weeks from the day of ordering, for mine, I think it took 6 weeks. If you want something already made, a used one on kijiji is your best bet.

I ordered mine from Dynamics for my CBR with my choice of material and colour and took about 3 weeks shipped to my door!

Thanks all. I called - A vicious cycle and was told they are all made to order and will take around 10 weeks. I was really hoping for something before the long weekend, as I cant really ride without one. If anyone knows of a plain black one for an m109r that's kicking around please let me know.

That's a good idea thanks. Can I ask, do all corbin seats have the option of adding a backrest? I have a backrest I want to be able to use with the seat. Do you think the one on that bike would allow me to use it, or is that something I would specifically ask for in a seat being made?

I have another question. Please bare with me. Is there like a jerry rig I can use to improve my seat prior to getting the Corbin? I have a tailbone injury and cant last long on a stock seat, and I really want to go on a run for the upcoming weekend on my new bike. Any tricks, cheap gel pads, bike shorts anything? That could do in a pinch?

There are padded bicycle shorts that you could wear that will help with the padding. Another thing would be to consider a beaded seat. Yeah it's fugly, but it allows better air flow and disperses the weight a bit.
Aside from that, sheep skin covers work ok.

You can grab this at CanTire and cut it/strap it to your seat: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/ergoseat-with-beaded-cushion-0321432p.html#.VXnUw_mqqko

This is the 'official' bead rider:

try and shift your weight in the seat on straight stretches, squeeze the tank more with your legs, and frequent stops (stop before it hurts).

If you want to ride out to my place (Mississauga) I am happy to lend you either a gel set cover or a sheepskin seat cover. I used to use these before I started riding with my Corbin seat and they helped enough for me to be able to go on some rides.

Shane, thanks so much for offering. I might take you up on that if I cant work anything else out.

I ordered direct from Corbin. I had my seat in 3 weeks.

Check Sargent, I prefer their shape to Corbin. Had them on 3 bikes so far, no complaints.

On my SV the Corbin is identical in shape to the Sargent. On a Vstrom however, the Sargent blows the Corbin away. So I would think the majority of the time the Sargent wins. The Sargent is also far lighter.

Like the other dude, I got mine through Corbin also. . . .years ago. . . made to order, took about a month? 6 weeks at the most?

But they sent it, and called me to tell me just as I was going to open the box that they sent me the wrong one. Had to go back they had the right one to me in another two weeks. It's been a while, but I remember that it was going to be quicker and about the same price compared to if I went through a local dealer. I didn't see the need for a middle man. . .

Thanks for the replies. Yeah Sargent doesnt seem to have one of the m109r. Although I suppose I could call them. I got it and the stock seat is not that bad. I think I will just order from Corbin. Cheers.
