Converting 636 to a cafe/fighter? Hard?

Okay so going at a high rate of speed my fenders on the right side decided to fly off on the hwy... They all broke, and even the front nose fender ceacked from it ripping off too. I ripped off the other side to even it out and its starting to look like a street fighter.

was wondering what the mods that need to be done are or if there is a kit of some sort out there to make it easier.

here is what the ugly is now...

Those flaring should not have come off unless they were not secure properly or were of bad quality (aka. china)

In regards to your post - there is no 'kit' that comes to convert your bike over, you'd have to build it as you go along. I've converted two in the past for their owners - if you need help PM me . Check out the review section for my reviews.

The second picture is for a '00/'01 zx6r. Looking at the details - it is very badly modified. The rear subframe is just hacked off, the front is lowered way too much - looks like it has only 2-3" of suspension travel.

It is even the stock exhuast - all they did was wrap it (very poor job) with exhaust wrap and took the can off. And no fenders.

If you have all the parts - I could turn your bike into a streetfigther in a weekend.

Same thing just happened to a buddy with a 06 636 last week.
But apparently it never heppens.....

I have had many bikes and don't recall the fairings ever flying off. And can't imagine it even being possible unless most of the fasteners were already gone. Fortunately I look at my bike sometimes and know they are still installed.

money u spendf converting tht thing to a streetfighter, you can easily buy a set of fairings on ebay...maybe even color matching ones!

my 05 636 fairings never came off at high speed
perhaps your screws were loose

anyway, that cafe racer looks fun
you should try it out

I should of mentioned it earlier. But fairings arent an issue for me as I have a set of white ones I got when buying a parts bike for the motor. So worst case ill put those on and paint them during the winter.

Im just interested in the street fighter for the fun of it. Was just wondering what parts i might need. If i can do it for under $1000 then why not. I can always convert it back if I need to sell it. Or include the parts as part of the sale.

obviously this guy must have the special edition model with NOSBOOST.
The bike was going so fast....then it vanished...whoa, time machine.

You can do it pretty easily, if you leave the tail alone. Take the front cowl/headlight and gauges off then add:

This headlight setup:

And this gauge (if you want to be baller):

And your choice of bar end mirror.

If you don't know what you're doing with this kind of build you will have a hell of a hard time reselling when it comes time, streetfighter conversions usually mean the bike was dropped or damaged and the owner didn't want to fix it properly....kind like the situation you're in now

I'd fix it properly and make a point to check the screws on the fairings every once in a while. Also as much as it looks nice, I'm guessing the modded bike you posted with no tail would kick up a ton of water and dirt on you while riding.

A street fighter can be built for about 300 dollars... Moto-X handlebars (Tag or Renthal), bar end mirrors, built custom bracket for a seat, shape seat, put cover back on with staple gun and it looks custom made, take a power saw with metal blade and cut off rear portion of frame (where passenger seat is located) and weld the back. Now you have SS bike that handles like super motor on steroids.. Power wheelies happen unexpectedly :)

My buddy has an R6 street fighter that he made and it's amazing! A lot more fun then the typical SS and it has a beautiful upright seating position.
