Commuting today? 11/17

Just watched the morning weather report and it's -1 right now with chance of snow flurries later. Bundling up for the ride to work ;)

Not this guy. I've been riding more or less daily for the past couple months still, there was a couple below 0 days where I flaked, but I've been riding rain or shine. Risk of snow though? I'm gonna pass, plus it's just too cold

Went to bed last night, committed to taking TTC..woke up this morning and said screw it, and rode in. Saw one other bike on the Gardiner. Wasn't too bad other than my fingers freezing. Saw it was only 20% chance of precipitation so figured it was worth a shot. Hopefully by quitting time it's still ok out.

Just got in to work. A bit cold on the fingers, but not as bad as I expected. I got a small windscreen at the motorcycle boneyard last weekend ($10) and it seems to also deflect some of the wind off of my hands, so that was a bonus. I didn't see snow in the forecast down here, or I may have taken the van.

Yup, Left at 7am, lined gloves and heated grips did their jobs.... Now I just need something to cover my chin.
I bundled up and wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Yup, rode in this morning. Probably putting the bike away this weekend (after an amazing first season of riding) - squeezing the last few days out by toughing out a little cold. Hopefully no flurries though, planning to go get some of the stuff I need to winterize post work.

Yup, rode in this morning as well. Glad for the chin curtain on my helmet and a wool scarf wrapped around my neck. No exposed skin or it really hurts.
I still think I can squeeze a few more riding days out of the season. Here's hoping!

Cheers!

Ya...of coarse...fingers were freezing & the honda was sputtering at 140 km don't know if that was the cold or something in the carbs.....

At least it's sunny. Waking up and having to cage it to work increases my chances of "**** it-- I'm calling in sick".

Winter riding gloves, under armour, lining, neck warmer / bib, closed helmet vents....no issues.

The flurries wont stick, the ground isn't frozen yet. We still got another month of riding eeeeeeeeasy.

Today didnt feel that cold. But my visor is fogging like crazy so I am keeping the mouth vent open.

Any tips on having it not fog up?

3 degrees here in Niagara with no frost, so I rode to work.

Can tell it's coming to an end as there were only 4 bikes parked on Albert Street this morning and one of them was a cruiser with these HUGE handwarmer things on.

Go to a sporting goods store and pick up the visor de-fogging spray. I usually get lazy and just keep the vents open.

Try a breath guard. Got mine from Royal last fall. The jr one fit perfectly in my Shoei helmet and it was pretty cheap.

rinding in the cold is no biggy...(doing 200 last night)
thanks to a 2 piece tight fitting Dainese suit that keeps all the air out
and Daytona security EVO boots....
and a cold tire psi of 28..!!!

After you clean your visor, smear the inside with shaving cream. Keep buffing it until the cream disappears, and it's clear.
Should last a couple weeks - then re-do it. I do the same thing with my glasses - never have a problem fogging up.

Riding at 6AM without a windshield gets quite cold so I got myself a down sweatter from eddie bauer. WOW, down sweaters are amazing. It keeps me toasty but it's very light. I can barely feel that it's on.

I was looking at those for boarding. Great idea for riding too. Thanks.

Well i commuted, it wasn't bad at all in the GTA, just chilly but if you dress warm it was fine, sunny in most parts of the city all day. It was already getting dark on my ride home at 4pm though. Looks like up north of us got snow and more on the way in the coming days, i hope we keep dodging it here!

PS.. i work doing deliveries and was out in a truck during the day, at around 1:30pm going northbound on the DVP near the eastbound 401 on-ramp i saw a guy on a bike in a biege hip length jacket, silver? helmet, didn't get a good look but the bike looked like a smallish standard bike, probably a 500cc, anyway dude... if you are on here you ride dangerously! we were about 20 metres behind you a few lanes to the right and i saw you tailgating and weaving between cars, and just before you turned right to get on the 401 ramp you were within half a bike distance of the car in front of you, then a pickup swerved in front of him to go left, you were INCHES from hitting that car! and still, you stuck to his rear bumper all the way around the onramp to 401 until i lost sight of you. We were behind you for about five minutes and every car i saw you follow you were never more than a bike length away from their rear bumpers. That rider is an accident waiting to happen!
