Close call, not really!

I was riding to work today. I was traveling on a not-so-busy street when a guy in a white SUV completely rolled a stop sign and made a left turn right in front of me. Two things worked in my favour: I was going up hill and I saw him well before he cut infront of me. I laid my thumb on the horn and swore through my helmet. Not sure if he heard me, he didn't even look at me. Makes me wonder if he saw me and was too ashamed to make eye contact, or if he didn't see me at all even with the use of my horn.

In any case, don't tell my moma this story or she'll make me sell my bike!

Ride safe.

For some reason I get the feeling that he saw you and decided to cut across you anyways. He probably does that every day at the same place, and doesn't get the huge risk that puts us in compared to a cage. Just speculating.

Or ride up beside him and kick his door. Just be careful not to throw yourself off balance. i almost did that with a guy who in a mini-coop decided he had enough space to squeeze in between me and a buddy. if he hasn't turned the corner..

I insist...through objects, use weapons of mass destruction, brake windows, knife tires, sugar gas tanks, unplug batteries, rat to cops.. just don't go near the car and put yourself in harms way trying to get him to acknowledge his/her mistake, if driver is enraged you are at a loss.

I heard sugar in the tank doesn't do **** unless it's liquified.

Maybe get one of these...you'll see em react!

I can vouch for the Nautilus. Got one installed recently, scared the **** out of a few cagers (and a few distracted pedestrians)... but even laying on the horn still had one idiot cager push into my lane, either unaware or uncaring of my presence.

No matter what you do, some people are still going to put your life at risk. But anything (within reason) you can do to make yourself more visible/noticeable is something worth doing.

Weird, a white SUV this morning cut in front of me to make a left (he was stopped..then decided to go as I got closer)

Just last Sunday I was riding up McCowan (near Finch) and was alongside a SUV. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed it seemed to be getting closer, and sure enough the driver was trying to change lanes right into me. I swerved into the adjacent tire track, laid on the horn, and luckily she darted back into her lane, but never even looked over at me (I was staring at her until I accelerated to get ahead). Clearly the driver didn't even look either before deciding to change lanes, I as was right beside pretty much parallel to the driver's seat in her vehicle, so all she had to do is turn her head and she would have seen me.
