China Fairing sets

Scratched up my right side fairing and I can buy a whole set on EBay for the price of one OEM from the dealer. Does anyone have experience with the Chinese made fairing sets? Good, bad, ugly?

From what I've heard be prepared for some alignment McGyvering

China can manufacture to any quality standard anyone wants
usually people want cheap so that's what gets exported most often
their factories can produce top quality OEM parts too

Definitely have a drill and dremel handy, but can look pretty good if you take your time (avoiding some of the cheesy paint schemes they make available). If you're not handy or patient and want quick bolt-on parts, these aren't for you.

Just got a set (finally) from Auctmart a few weeks ago for an 02 gsxr1000 and it fit perfectly . Really happy with the finish. Ordered just before COVID hit so it was stuck in China for a while.. Ended up paying some extra to have it sent by courier and then it shipped,

I got a set of china farings, pretty happy with the results. Cost $550 to my door.
Some parts didn’t fit the best, but the bike had been down on both sides a couple of times by the looks of it.

I can't speak for all fairings from China but in the aprilia crowd, rsv4 fairings from China come with little to no complaints. Many people with the Tuono like to do the rsv4 tail swap and some the belly pan as well. Multiple people on forums have reported no issues with fitment and there are DIY threads on how to do it yourself with lots of happy replies from people that have done the same. They have even gotten them to spray the fairings to match based on paint code. At often 10-25% the cost, the Aprilia V4 crowd seems happy. Can't speak for other bikes though.

I bought China fairings from eBay.

The good: Cheap.

The bad: Fitment issues, had to take a drill to it to make it fit the tabs on the frame. Colour was slightly off - bike is red, the fairings were too orangish-red. Not that noticeable. Check to see if your fairings include heat-shielding. Some do, some don't. Make sure you factor in shipping, sometimes the eBay sellers price the fairings super-cheap, but then the shipping is more than the price of the fairings. That's how they get you to look at the ad, I guess. Still cheaper than OEM. I ordered these a few years ago and shipping took a loooong time, like close to two months to arrive. With COVID-19, not sure how long shipping would take these days.

If you are a stickler about how your bike looks up close, then get OEM fairings.

The China fairings are good from far, but far from good.

Yeah like Apple's iPhones. Chinese-made. But if you want a $150 smartphone they can build you one too, but its going to be ******.

I’ve done a couple. Good thing, price. Bad thing: they take about 8 hrs clearancing holes and filing tabs to fit fasteners and fix alignments; paint is not always perfect; you will need to purchase your own heat shielding ($30) and push pins.

I changed my fairings because I hated the orange.

Years ago I bought two sets for my gixxer and they were good for the price. I needed to reuse all my stock rubber grommets and heat shields, but I installed it loosely and then tightened it while holding the alignment. Fit great and cheap as hell. Both sets were custom and looked near perfect.

I've recently installed Chinese fairings.. In fact, I installed it on 2009 GSX-650F. What can I say, they are MUCH cheaper than OEM. The paint is ok-ish.. The fitment for me was not bad at all. But there are some spots that can't be fixed even with a dremel just because of the shape. The bad thing is the quality.. They look much more fragile than OEM. Most OEM fairings can easily survive low-speed drops, but this one.. I have some doubts. In fact, one of the plastic pins (that goes into a rubber busing on a side) broke on me when I just took fairings off in the 2nd time.. It is not moulded but glued to the fairing.

If you plan to replace the whole set then expect some interesting issues with the "nose". At least in the fairings which I got, the moulded in hardware is different from the OEM and I had to search for some different bolts.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with what I've got. The result is good enough and I'm not worrying about scratching them. If needed I can easily replace them and I would again buy Chinese fairings. However, if you need to replace only one piece, I would recommend you to consider buying OEM if you can find them for a reasonable price (when I checked prices for 650f, they were very unreasonable).. it just would be easier and better for resale value.
