Chain lubricant

Yeah, if you lubricate it the sand/grime will loosen up and eventually fall off, or fly off in the highway.
 
Wurth SSH 2000

Comes on liquid, stays on as thick grease. Haven't used anything else for the past 200,000Km on an 80ft-lb bike. I would use Ballistol in a pinch because I have a lot of it, with more frequent application.

I use to use that. Has a lot of fling and made the bike dirty.

Plus I hated the business practices of the Wurth shop, you needed an account and you couldn't just grab and go, plus all the spam emails. Just scummy. Also the store wasn't close to me, being in the East end so the hike to Vaughn with today's congestion, and it's pricey, not worth it.

Now I use Honda's $10 chain lube, works great!

Fling (within reason) and looking dirty was never my consideration when it came to chain maintenance, but I don't recall having those issues with Wurth at all. I used to buy it from Rosey Toes and if I still needed it (my current bike has no chain) I would buy it in bulk or ask my mechanic to source it for me. You do you.
