Found this video via David Emmett (MotoGP journalist), and it's incredible. Watching the fuel droplet hang suspended in space for a split second before being vapourised by the intake stroke is hypnotic:
Dunno, seems to be doing the job of maintaining a reasonable fuel level. I'd be curious whether or not most carbs have that much disturbance from vibration and oscillation...His Float is pretty much a useless component it that model.
It's constantly open even when the motor is not running. Yes a carb is constantly being agitated during riding situations. The butterflies, on the other hand, definitely need work. Not much good to close the throttle if they just fold over...
