CanadaPost returns my package without attempting delivery!

Regular mail, not parcels. Canada Post would be committing suicide if they stopped delivering (or attempting to deliver) parcels to the door. I much prefer a community mailbox to at door delivery -- STAY OFF MY LAWN!

Edit #1:
As I went to the Canada Post website to buy a couple dozen stamps before the price goes up, I noticed they posted their plan: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/assets/pdf/aboutus/5_en.pdf

Sounds like a move in the right direction to me since they are losing money -- cut costs, address the much higher wages than the competition problem, and cut the work force through attrition rather than layoffs.

Edit again: now it seems like the denomination free stamps are already removed from the website, so stocking up is pointless -- those bastards!

Union is what caused them to slowly bleed to death if nothing was done. Stark reality has set in.

Gone are the days when employees would work till 1pm and collect 8 hour a day "ridiculous wage" pay checks.

A private company would have put the kibosh on this years and years ago.

Costco had a big push on their stamps before the deadline to return them to Canada Post.

I bought 100. Stupid weddings.

My wife works from home on a pretty frequent basis, once watched the post guy, cant remember if Canada Post, UPS or ? but she watched him filling out the "Sorry we missed you" slip to stick to the front door as they walked up our driveway.

He had no intention on even trying to deliver the package

Happens all the time with all the courier companies. Has nothing to do with whether they attempt a delivery or not. They are taught this to save time. Most residential customers are not at home at time of delivery.

Saving time for who?
It's about finishing your shift early and getting paid for a full day.

I think my recent experience with CP was/is best.

I got a notice on my door that the package was not delivered due to "Driveway Not Plowed" ya that's right they could put the notice on my door but couldnt deliver the package which weighed less then a pound due to the "Driveway Not Being Plowed". What facking B.S. not to mention my driveway was cleared but had less then a light dusting on it.

Both I reckon. Them not having to spend an additional 45seconds waiting for a non-response/you to wake up and schlep your keister down your staircase all the way on the other side of your mansion. I had a recent (important) delivery where we left a note for the delivery man to wait an extra minute while my post-acl-surgery brother slowly made his way down to the front door.

For expensive items I wouldn't want left at the door, I've posted notes saying I'm away on vacation and will pickup at the local post office as well.

They're good people, but as always, a few ****** ones in the crop.

Route efficiency is important for courier reviews so saving time for them, the company and improving on time deliveries for the customer. Not talking specifically about CP, non unionized companies work in this manner.

I tried to pick up a package the other day. After walking 20 minutes to get there since they have no parking, standing in line for 30 minutes because they only have one staff on, they couldn't find it and asked me to come back. Came back today, parked illegally, went in to see about 30 people in line. Waited 10 minutes and they hadn't even dealt with the customer that was at the counter when I arrived, so I just left. Quite annoyed.

delays and mistakes are to be expected at this time of year, the amount of packages being shipped for Christamss makes a mess of the system, and then not to mention this **** weather, it happens every year

I have been waiting for a package that tracking shows cleared Canada post customs 3 days ago, usually I get them the next day after clearing customs. It was a birthday present to myself and I was really hoping to get it. Oh well big deal I might get it today, if not probably monday or tuesday.

I cant hate on Canada post even when they do mess up, its rare. And I have had the best experience with them, I order stuff all the time and get hundreds of packages a year and Canada post is the way to go....UPS is the devil!

I guess I'm just "that guy" cause I have problems with them at least once every 4-5 deliveries. Never had a problem with FedEx or UPS since I clear my packages through CBSA myself. (Except FedEx, their brokerage is cheap).

Although there is a worrying situation today in which my item is to be delivered in the next few hours and last time tracking updated it was still a 4 hour drive away D:
