CanadaPost returns my package without attempting delivery!

Is there anything that can be done besides calling their 1-866 number, getting nowhere and then hassling the seller? This **** is absolutely ****ing bonkers. The tracking updated this evening (around 7pm) from "In transit" to "Out For Delivery" and "Recipient not located at address provided. Item being returned to sender." Supposedly it was out at 7:40am, and sent back at 5:23pm. No one came to the house, there wasn't even a truck on the street today. I've been checking the tracking religiously since it's a christmas gift and it DEFINITELY didn't update during the course of the day. It wasn't even supposed to arrive until tomorrow.

you can call the 866 #, you have a 50/50 shot at getting it turned around. I'd contact the seller and make other arrangements. I had great service shipping with Canadapost for a decade, but something in the give a crap level has changed in the last couple years. I pay more but I use FedEx and UPS a lot these days. Just more reliable. good luck

Normally if Canada Post can't deliver a package. e.g if you weren't home to sign for it. They will leave a note in your mailbox letting you know where you can pick it up. Usually it's at the local post office. Such as a small variety store. I actualy find Canada Post more convienient than UPS etc.good luck.

Called 3 different times hoping to get someone who could help, nada. Tried the Social media route, we'll see how that plays out.

Your post is so useless I think you may work for them. It would make sense.

Sounds like you are waiting for the package, right? Also sounds like maybe what's written on the package is not correct or was misread. They may try again. They have done it to me as a seller and it turned out that the street address had a small spelling error, like dr. instead of rd. enough for them to toss it back even with the right postal code.

A reason they may have stated that the recipeint didnt live in the stated address could be because
the mail man went to the wrong house and your neighbour said noone live here by that name
maybe it wasthe wrong address in the get go
or maybe there was just a system error.

Regardless, you should contact the seller and ask for a picture of the package sent or a copy of the shipping paper work that they should a copy of (package/packing slip)

it probably won't help...but go to your local post office and raise hell....it might make you feel better for a minute.

My fiancee's son is at US boot camp trying to become a Marine, the only form of communication is letters in the mail. We got his second letter before the first. Then we got the first one, it was ripped and damaged. She went to the local post office and blasted them, we had a new carrier the next day. The new guy wasn't any better, the next letter we got, was hand delivered to us by our neighbor. I really wish I was at the post office the next day when she went there.

Like I said, It probably won't help, but at least you can take your frustration out

Just don't swear at them, they hang up immediately.

I was touring across the New England states and tried to ship a parcel back. Canada post sent me a notice stating my parcel could be picked up at an outlet. Went there and they said they didn't have it (even though I had slip stating it was there).

So I called CP. Got pretty frustrated trying to explain the package was from me in the states and addressed to me in Canada....

4 months later another outlet called. They had gone through the local phone book to call me, saying that they were going to return the package to CP If I didn't come pick it up.

End of the day I learned Canada Post is pretty useless for customer service and at letting you know where they have delivered your package to

Dude, what is it with the attitude, the guy is trying to help you out.

I agree with him, if they are not able to deliver it to you they bring it back to the nearest post office which you can go and pick up from, I have done it many time, don't understand why this is so complicated.

Check your receipt or order confirmation ensure the address info is correct. Go to your local post office to see if it is actually there; the tracking info may have been updated incorrectly or the update hasn't been uploaded yet.

I quoted verbatim what tracking info shows. It was RETURNED TO SENDER yesterday. It is not sitting somewhere waiting for me to pick it up.

I guess it can't hurt to go down to the P.O. and raise some very politely worded if curt hell.

So Macs , you come on a motorcyle board to ask for advice on why you didn't.get a package from Canada Post. I offer my experience with them and your response is to insult me.
And no I don't work for Canada Post.

The manager at your local post office will smile at you, and tell you to direct your complaints to canadapost.com.
Call them again see if it your issue can be escalated with a manager or ask them if there is anything you or the seller can do to have the package redirected to your local post office.

Probably won't do any good either. You may luck out in that it'll get re-routed today if it was just a case of it ending up on the wrong truck. The tracking updates might not be accurate. I see inaccurate info in the tracking info all the time...

No offense but there is more to this story, they first attempt to deliver 3 times, each time they leave you a note, then they keep it for a period of time before returning it to sender.

So there is some information you are missing in which case go Canada post and find out or someone over there royally screwed up. Either way go over there and find out.

Different issue.... You may be correct if they are attemping to deliver to the right address, but if they ended up at the wrong address and were told the person doesn't live there... they won't go back three times.

Alright guys this is the tracking number 4674731178669306 you tell me what I left out or what the other story is...

In other news I begged pleaded and sweet talked my way into them searching for and finding the package. It was indeed refused at someone's home. Found it on a truck bound for the airport.

And I thought it was bad that they kept marking mine as attempted delivery when I was home all day and then left it at the post office to be picked up. I've never had them return one. They're supposed to hold it for like 2 weeks or something like that. I had to check last time I had a delivery of wine while I was away on business.
