Buying a dropped bike...

Anyone can write down/take a photo of any vin# and walk into the MTO and print out a uvip and get the guys full name. If he's got a lien on it you get his full address too.

But that person paid for that knowledge and assumed had to ask to get in the garage to gain access to the vin.

Darkav, let me know if you need any help. Like I said, I wouldn't recommend. I didn't find kijiji ad.

Thanks ;)
I'm gonna go check it out tomorrow, contacted the seller, should be a good winter project for me, and as some of the members noted previously, it doesn't look like the engine has been scraped on the crash side. Will have to check head bearings, see if there is any unwanted play there, bring some gasoline (I'd go get some 96). Will see how it goes, i will PM you once I'm 100% sure about the situation, I live at Yonge/Eglinton, so it shouldn't bee too much of a commute for me ;)

Looks like I will have 2.5 projects for the winter instead of one ;)

The bike isn't in a garage. The seller wasn't home when I grabbed the vin#. The date on the side of the frame said Feb 2009, so I figured there's no way it's a 2010 bike like the ad says so I paid the $20 and pulled the uvip and voila, 2009 :(

check the forks. Make sure they rebound smoothly, no stiction.
Bring string and check the alignments.
I grabbed the front brakes and compressed the forks as much as I could, they felt smooth, didn't stick at the bottom and no leaks from the seals. I'm no expert so I won't say they are "good", especially because he wouldn't let me ride it.

Good idea, and in regards to the engine, if there is anything wrong with it:

Option 1:
http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...ja-zxr6-600-motor-560-firm-W0QQAdIdZ524648036

Option 2:
Bring it to Zed.... I'm sure he will be happy about it, last time I've seen him, he was berried with bike work ;p

Just FYI, a 2008 ZX6R is a different generation, not sure how different the engine is. Just so you know before you dive in ;)

I'm aware that 07/08 are the same, I'm also aware that 08 to 12 have interchangeable parts, will need to check more

Ahhh, I just noticed your ZX6R's in your sig ;) I've never owned one, so for sure you know more about them than me! Good luck with your winter project :)

It was a valid point in regards to 08. I just need to check more in to it :)

Cheers!

He rarely answers his phone, e-mails or text messages. Best is just go to his house and sit on the bike and wait for him to come home :(

Bummer man. Was the bike there when you went there today (in that little side car port thing)?

Good luck on your continuing bike search!

The bike I was looking at buying was "sold". I drove down there with cash. If the bike is there, the guy hasn't picked it up yet. You can either offer more, or offer the same to take it home "right now". Turns out the guy he sold it to showed up with $1000 and said "bank machine only let me take out $1k, can I give you the $1k now and take the bike home, I'll give you $1k every day until the $5500 is paid off, I promise!" lol. I came home with the bike :D Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
