Bringing a complete engine over the border

I think I've found an engine that I will be picking up shortly in the states and bringing it back with me. Is there any special procedure for engines? Or is just considered a "part" and I pay full duty since I'll be in the states less than 24 hours?

I've brought a few over and they have always been treated just as "parts".

great, so i'll just be paying the tax / duty at the border and thats i then.

i was worried i might have to register it or something like that, but since its not a vehicle then the procedure is the same as anything else.

No duty on engines. You'll just be paying the tax.
