Bike shed beside garage

I'm thinking of buying or building a shed beside my garage and have the driveway interlock extended so I can ride my bike in. Thinking something along the lines of 5'~6' wide where I can basically just wheel the bike in and out.

Has anyone done something like that?

You need a permit.
Also from what I remember it has to be 10ft away from the house and 5 ft away from the property side border (and house). I could be wrong as it was about a year ago.

You are allowed to build a shed up to 110 sq ft without a permit but it has to follow the previous laws.

a friend on this site had a shed for his bike....one of those folding ones....worked great and no bylaw issues.

Good call. I figured there's something like that. It's more probably that I'd extend the interlock to go to my backyard instead, and park the bike in a shed there. I've also seen the folding ones so I might park it in that during the summer and store in the shed during the winter.

That actually what I did.

I bought a lifetime shed from costco for $1000, put it on a concrete slab (another $400 of materials), dug out about 100feet (2 feet deep) of ground and laid some wire in a pvc pipe so that I could run electricity there (another $500 ish of materials).

Next step is to lay out some stones so that I could ride threw the 50 feet of backyard to get to the shed. The whole process took me about 1.5 months but saved me a good $5k.

I wonder what the by-laws would be if you were to build a lean-to beside the garage and use tarps to close it in? If by-laws are an issue in your Municipality.

I already had a workshop/1.5 car garage but my driveway fell short of it by about 30 feet.... I layed just over 300sq.ft. of interlock there so that I could get my bikes in and out easier... the entire job from start to finish took me 6 days; lotsa digging though :).

In the spring I was also looking for storage shed...when I looked into the prefab ones at the major retailers (CT, HD, RONA, etc.) the minimum one I found in the size needed (about 8x5ft) was around $450-500.
Looking into the space, my dad and I built a concrete slab and bought the materials to make our own. It ended up being around $700 (not including our labour), took about a weekend + 2 evenings, and fit perfectly into the space allowed. Fits the bike, some tools, hoses, etc.
