Best Price & service for tire change in GTA????

Your right about Ted's attitude. Some times he's all smiles and some times he looks like he wants to kill you. I was there a month ago for a tire change. He was quiet but not rude to me that day. An old guy shows up with a power auger that he couldn't get started. He didn't speak very good english so he asked me to communicate his request to Ted. His response to me was, "tell him to F-off."
 
I was quoted $160 to change and balance the tires if I brought the bike in. She said that it takes 2 hrs to change both tires. I told her that was the highest price I have ever heard of and explained that other places charge about $100, sometimes less. My response is that other riders don't seem to have a problem going to a properly priced place. I've never put tires on rims before but, 2 hours really??? She didn't want to lower the price. This was J & R Cycle in Wasaga Beach.

Some dealers don't like to do tire changes unless you buy from them and they price accordingly. I had a dealer explain that it would cost me one hour labour per wheel with the wheels off the bike (it takes about 10-15 minutes per wheel) at $90 per hour. I'd suggest finding someplace else, either a smaller shop (such as Competition Cycle) or some racer dude that does tire swaps on the side (like a couple of members on GTAM). You may have to travel a bit to make that happen though if you can't find someone local to Wasaga Beach.

You can always wear your tires like hula hoops and go for a ride to someplace that won't gouge you on the price if you aren't set up or comfortable pulling the wheels off yourself.

Funny about the "hula hoops" idea, as that is exactly what I will be doing, so long as it is comfortable enough.

I guess they charge more since it would be convenient for people as it is closer and done while you wait.

Another rider is going to do it for me. He is also going to change the valve stem on my 2007, which I wouldn't have thought of doing. Since it's a cheap fix, it's better to be proactive.

I use to go through Uxbridge all the time. Good place to make money off of real estate, well at least 5 years ago. Maybe the housing prices already jumped up, but I would think it's still a nice place to live.

I guess this Ted fellow just is rolling in the cash and doesn't need more business.

Only bad thing is he works full time so you would have to do it around his schedule.

+1 no scratches and does a static balance on the tire as well. Knows his stuff and is an all around nice guy. Def recommend if you are in the area.

Glad you found a solution.

Uxbridge is great. Housing is pretty expensive but it is a very nice place to live and I love it. If only I could keep them damn sports bikes off my street and if only the pirates would find another place to demonstrate their sonic blasts to each other on Sunday morning. :D
 
I googled your bike, looks like a pretty nice "sports bike".

In my neighbourhood there is a really loud cruiser, so in comparison, my neighbours said they don't mind mine. It works well.
 
I recently replaced my front @ Rosy Toes, known Ted for a cpl of yrs, but he had some yahoo take my fender off and the idiot broke the bolt on the shock, they never said a word about it until cpl of days ago I as cleaning the bike and found that the bolt that holds the fender to the shock is broken, damn.

Bottom line, be very careful whom u deal with, it's not the store or price that's imp, it's the person working in on your bike, the experience etc. my 2 cents.
