best batteries?

Looking for a new battery for an 08+ Fireblade... Honda thought it would be smart to put a AA battery in this bike to save weight but it lasts about 3.5 minutes and the bike has 50:50 odds of actually firing up at any given time. Looking to put something more stout in there, but space is a constraint. Should I just give Honda money for whatever batteries the factory uses, or go elsewhere? Anyone have experience with something like Shorai lithium-iron batteries?

I run a LiFePO4 in my te450... it starts my bike each and every time, that's all I can say about it ;) Much lighter and smaller than my lead acid battery it replaced, but all I really care about is longevity. Lead acid only lasted 3 years for me, and I'm hoping this lithium battery will last much longer (basing my hope on my r/c experience).

I ordered mine (8-cell) from: http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/batteries/batteries.php

No problem yet, after almost a year of use!

+1 on the LiFe batteries. I got my Ballistic battery from Pete's Superbike. I figure once you add shipping and taxes, it's cheaper. GP Spec also sells some (different brand though).

My '06 Yamaha FZ6 still has the oem Yuasa battery. That's at least five years and almost 80k km. I haven't been nice to it either. Ran it down a couple times, the past two winters didn't even bother putting it on charge, that's sitting in an unheated shed. Battery is still solid, started without a hiccup this morning at five degrees.

At this point, I think it's safe to say the battery owes me nothing

^ OEM and quality aftermarket lead-acid batteries have treated me well over the years too. But Honda put a mind-numbingly small battery in the 08+ Fireblade. It's not worth a damn.
