Bell Fibe upgrade - Please help me understand

I have Fibe 25 as well. My wireless works fine, but I have an issue where it will randomly drop the internet connection, local network works though, comes back on it's own after a bit.

I was fighting with Bell tech support for months as they told me everything was working fine... Finally posted a thread on dslreports.com tech support forum, the guy fixed it instantly. Worth a shot

So, an update to this thread.

Bell finally sent a tech out. All of the rest of the computers are working fine both wired and wireless (25mb download / 10 upload). Mine is the only laptop which has extremely slow download ONLY (2 mb) and 10 mb upload.

So.. tech guys - any ideas what could be restricting my download speed? I'm using windows 8 and Agv as my antivirus and that's it!

What brand and model laptop? What model wireless card is in it?

This probably isn't it but I opened a laptop one time, for a guy complaining of poor range/speed and all three of his antenna wires weren't plugged into his wireless card, guess they forgot to plug them in at the factory? Worth a shot.

Why are you running agv with 8? Did you know it has a built-in antivirus?

Laptop Acer Aspire 5560-Sb401

Acer Nplify 802 11b/g/n

It ain't the greatest I know, but Its been much faster before the upgrade to Fibe 25 modem :(

So does 7 in a way... or at least you can install Defender for free which is supposed to be much lighter than AVG and work better.

I have TekSavvy "upgraded" 28/1 plan, which they don't have anymore, $53 after taxes with 300GB limit. My parents just signed up for their 25/2 plan (300gb limited, unlimited 2am-8am) for $40+tax, so it's cheaper than mine :(, and I can't really switch to that plan as they charge for 'downgrading', but don't charge for upgrading your plans. Their neighbor just switched to TekSavvy DSL, "up to 25/10" for $40+tax, same 300gb, unlimited 2-8am.
As far as I am aware, since TekSavvy has no contracts, you never pay a fee for changing plans...

Im with bell fibe 25 paying $35 per month with 300 gb cap. Im actually considering switching to another provider that i have my eyes on.

16 down/1 up and home phone all the features + free north american calling + other countries. a bundle for $79 bucks

Defender is a removal tool, not an "Antivirus program" per se. Microsoft Security Essentials would be what you're talking about and needs to be downloaded for Win7.

Wait, what? How did I not know about this?

So I can uninstall AGV and be okay?

Not an option (yet) since we are all all bundled.
Phone / TV / Internet / Mobile.

Yes you can get rid of AGV (and it's probably a good idea).

Are you sure about that?

Sorry, yes, I got the 2 mixed up.

For those looking for a decent ISP, Start Communications is pretty good. I switched to them from Teksavvy.

I've heard good things about Acanac (spelling?) as well.

WHAAT? How much are you paying for that DL speed? 250mbps is like $225 a month on their website!

If it's part of what you need to run your business (from what I gather some type of Remote Camera IP Setup service) then it's just another cost you pass on to a client.
