Armor suits

Hard Armour vs Soft armour.
don't be confused with Hard armour vs foam.
Hard armour is a plastic shell usually with a soft foam behind it. Transferes the impact through the plastic.
Soft armour is engineered rubbers and high density foam.Much harder then one expects. Designed to absorb the impact and not allow energy to be transferred through.
Proper "soft" armour will out perform any hard armour all day long and provide better protection with less damage to the suit.

Gonna bump this. I'm looking into getting the force field pro shirt/pants in combination with a track suit. Has anyone crashed with these on and how effective is it from mitigating injuries? For Googling "Forcefield Pro Shirt track day crash" isn't giving me any results, only for their back protector =(

wouldn't wearing the forcefield armor shirt make it redundant due to the fact that the race suits already have armor? I was under the impression that you wear these under non-technical jackets.

From my understanding, though somebody with more experience feel free to chime in, armor built into leathers/jackets/suits generally moves out of place during crashes?

Not with a properly sized / designed suit....
 
I'd be careful about the sizing of the suits.

I bought one during a bankruptcy sale, and I'd have had to have been a chimpanzee to properly fit into it.
The soft armour was great though, and fit into my jacket and pants nicely.
 
I have no experience with wearing separate armor but anything forcefield makes is without a doubt a top quality product, you just have to figure out what your top layer will be for abrasion resistance.
 
For DH I would recommend the first over the second suit suggested. The second offers little forearm protection. If you bail on a double diamond the rough trail will find exposed areas really fast. If its not padded, its exposed. Personally, I use Thor roost protectors and separate forearm/elbow guards. Great ventilation and protection.

For motorcycle protection I just use a leather jacket with the armour built in. You get padding and abrasion resistance in one.

3 crashes this year, my suit armour and my back protector didn't move at all.

I think you will have to buy a bigger size suit in order to fit this stuff inside plus the proper back protect (which this shouldn't substitute), now you are wearing a track suit that is to big for you.

bad idea IMO
