Real scary stuff. I can't imagine what kind of mindset you have to put yourself to wake up one day and go:

"I'm gonna take on the USA"

I'm not normally one for politics; originally I thought Hong Kong would be cool due to all the activist pictures but then he got the boot. Ever since then...even though I don't know the guy, I fear for him =/

I forgot about him for a bit then decided to read up on him. Mainstream media isn't covering him anymore for obvious reasons; it's scary how well information is controlled.

And it's real heavy ****, no other way to describe it. Stuff that makes Hollywood conspiracy movies.

I thought it was incredibly ballsy what he did. Unfortunately, the media is focused on him more than what he exposed, which is pervasive surveillance of the NSA against its own people.

I suspect CSIS is likely doing the same to Canadians.

Believe it or not there are still people out there who are willing to stand up for whats right, no matter what the consequences are.

I'm not saying he's wrong. I'm saying he's nuts. Standing up to a boss or a person is one thing. Taking on the country is a whole other animal. Right or wrong, he just painted a target on his back.

No doubt that this is going to change his life forever, and i wouldn't be surprised if he had an "accident" where ever he decides to live out the rest of his life, courtesy of the usa of course.

Fortunately the presidents of Nicaragua and Venezuela offered Friday to grant him asylum

Uniforms don't make soldiers, actions do... The core of a nation is its citizenry not its politicians or landmarks... Some where down the line being civilized became forgetting what "NATIONAL" meant in NATIONAL SECURITY....koodos to him for doing what he did same for Bradley manning(exposing systematic cover up of war crimes)... I don't think I would have the balls to do what they did... Respective to all governments and military not just a few...

I realize now that you didn't understand much of my posts about gen y. Gen Y typically don't care much for politics or organized religion. No deep political convictions... Don't you remember I posted that already? Snowden is not fitting the definition at all. Also, Gen Y is not about being a nerd (even if you are), it is about being a technologist. There are books written about this, it's hard to explain in two sentences. In any case, Snowden is demonstrating a maturity beyond his years.

Probably he did. He requested asylum "in more than two dozen countries" most likely including Cuba. Some countries turned him down already, others never replied, or are still thinking about it. I looked for the complete list of countries but I could not find it.
