Any experience with GPS tracker?

hey guys
does anyone here have any experience/recommendation with any gps tracker?
which brand or model or any cons/pros a buyer needs to know?
any help is appreciated.

I tried the Spot trace for a year, worked semi decently with no noticeable drain on the battery when hard wired. It just had iffy reception if anything covered the unit I would get no reception. With an additional price tag of $199 a year and no service in my garage, I did not choose to renew.
I bought one of the eBay gsm trackers but never got around to installing it because trying to find a cell phone carrier with a signal strength strong (bell or virgin) enough for a underground parking lot didn't seem economical.
Right now I'm using RIDE's alarm with GPS tracking. The unit does drain my battery, so I keep the quick connect leads from the trickle charger always connected to the battery to plug in when I get home.

Check out Trackimo it is definitely the best bang for your buck. www.trackimo.com

Talk about good timing! Was just speaking with my wife about this a couple of days ago.

I do most of my riding solo so I wouldn't mind giving her something that would show her where I am. Should anything actually happen it'd be an easier way to go and find me instead of trying to look for a phone signal.

"This device works in any place on the planet that has cellular reception."

Nice marketing pitch. Problem is exactly that, no reception in underground garages therefore this item won't work despite the "work anywhere on the planet" part .

thanks folks
from a little online research that I did, there are two types: one uses cellphone towers and signals to locate and the other uses satelites.
Apparently satelite is better for rural areas where less cellphone towers and bad reception, but cellphone tracking is better in cities with good cellphone coverage.
Although you need a pre-paid sim card which is not that big of a deal.

my last bike was stolen from underground parking. I still live in an apartment building. So I am gonna try to make it as hard as I can for the new bike to be stolen again!

Couldn't be more right. That's the nice part about trackimo it uses gps and gsm. Parking garages are tricky though... obviously gps will never work and cell coverage is a gamble ay best. But you could set up a geofence around your parking garage so you are notified as soon as is outside. Probably only real way around that issue unless someone has any other ideas?

Don't put your faith in GPS/GSM trackers, even the retarded thieves have GPS/GSM blockers now (plugs in cigarette lighter, blocks all cell and GPS while your bike is in their van, costs $20 on Aliexpress).
