Anti-theft ideas

That was my first thought and more specifically a Rubbermaid one, They go together easily and I would think you could disassemble it and bring it with you when you move. I think they are about $1000??

You can build a really nice shed for 500-700$ with a concrete floor as well. The Rubbermaid ones are great but you will need to make a good base to support the bike. I built an awesome one with my dad last year and it makes for great bike storage.

edit: sorry forgot you're renting so the landlord may not be cool with building a big shed. But ask they may pay for half as its a benefit to them as well.

1.- Get it fully insured.

2.- Get a camouflage cover.

3.- Park it in front of some bushes.

Done.

Make it harder to steal, or at least take longer and/or require tools....The trend is picking up bikes and tossing them into vans, these people do not want to have to cut chains or locks generally. Im sure some will try but the longer the takes and the harder it is for them, the more likely they are to just steal a different one that isn't chained to the ground or a fixed object..

I like the Hyosung cover. I think that's brilliant.

But, for the OP's situation, I'd recommend building a very small shed, the size used for storing garbage cans. You can make one from scratch for probably $100 or you can buy prefab. This one is 4' x 7':

$300 from WalMart.

Check out IdLink, as a possible option, is around 400/500 per device but if stolen n not found you get 5000, so they say .... I would still make sure insurance is full or at least with anti-theft as mentioned by many

A shed costs about the same as a nice alarm and a disc lock. Outta sight outta mind.
