American Suzuki files for bankruptcy

The suzuki sierra was one of the most popular 4x4 offroad toys you could find. Ive seen soo many of them modded to the teeth. THEY were definitely "fun to drive"

Any 4x4 is "fun to drive" when you take it off-roading. Off-roading is just fun in general no matter what vehicle you drive.

If the SX4 was available from the factory with a turbo and a proper AWD system, I would've bought it.

I always thought they should scrap their cars, seemed like a loosing battle.

Suzuki is huge in the car market in Australasia.

AND a MANUAL gearbox!!!

That is a really unfortunate news to here about a company which has been one of the leading bike manufacturers world wide, and still seems that we as a consumer are going to loose on lots of good and competitive products in near future.

Such as??

It comes with a manual already. Part of the reason I was leaning towards it is that it's about the only manual AWD budget vehicle in existence. Otherwise you've gotta go to Subaru.

Also, the turbo kit that is available is supposedly very good (easy to install/set up and doesn't hurt the reliability too much, dealer even said they would honor the Suzuki warranty). It was mostly that this mod would make the car next to impossible to get insurance for and I didn't like how their AWD system worked. I like RWD bias so I can slide it a little. Although my WRX kind of drives like a FWD car (understeer) anyway.

The future SX-5, the SX-6, the SX-7....

:lmao:

Honestly, the more I read about it, the cars are not that bad.
Future cars may have been competitive.
Kizashi got close, but it is too little too late

The Kizashi was nothing special IMO. Even the SX4 was more unique as a micro SUV. It had the same AWD system as the SX4 but no manual available (with AWD, their manual was FWD only)... seemed like every other car to me. Looked nicer than something like a Corolla or whatever I guess.

Best and most reliable cars we have ever owned (Suzuki). I'm hearing alot of recalls for Toyotas and Hondas lately, defects they never were sloppy with before.

Suzuki wouldn't need to post a mass media recall of all 3 cars they sold in the entire US.

World Record Pikes Peak holder is a Suzuki, not Subaru or Mttsubishi etc. In case none of you ever seen this,it's a crazy run cornering beside a mountain.

According to http://www.monster-sport.com/ppihc/e/team/index.html he was running an SX4 with a V6 and twin turbo. Not the I4 150 HP engine. You literally just told me in another thread that the SX4 is not a sports car and a turbo would be useless. Now you're contradicting yourself... anyway, everyone is welcome to their opinion. I liked the SX4 just didn't quite do it for me.

Keep in mind that this is Suzuki USA... for all we know, the Canadian car division is doing OK, or at least not going bankrupt

Reminds me of when Blockbuster USA declared bankruptcy.......... the Canadian Blockbuster says "business as usual here".

Sure enough, soon after, Blockbuster Canada folded.

:laughing3:

I find it very hard to believe Suzuki Canada will have any staying power.

Pretty much knew this was going to happen. Most cars and trucks in Canada piggyback their emissions and safety standards compliance on the US standards, and with that no longer available, the Canadian market is too small for Suzuki Canada to carry on alone. Note that Suzuki Canada is not declaring bankruptcy ... they're just stopping auto sales.
