Allegheny and area - My baby girls first big ride

I decided to do a trip down through Allegheny and other surrounding area with my baby girl.

My baby girl was lic last summer & had bike but it sat in the back yard most of the time. Last weekend I had
her on the Hwy for the first time from toronto to Trenton. I was amazed on how well she did. We did 786 K that
day. (other areas as well) She has only been on the Hwy 2 more times before we left. She is very short and rides
a 250 Virago. This whole trip was going to be just over 1200 K.
It was just tons and tons of hills - sweepers - twistys. I feel like a billy goat now. We also ended up on a dirt road & I
thought it was going to be 12K but ended up another 22K to find it was blocked off. Road at this point was a
2 track only. We ened up doing a water crossing to another road and spent about 5 or so hours going around
and covered maybe 60 clicks. We finally made it back out to pavement. This trip was so good am thinking of
doing again in the fall. (I know it would be another great ride)
If you want a good ride that is not very far then this is it.
Cost for this whole trip for the 2 of us was maybe 400 bucks.

Rotten Ronnie posted this ride up last fall. We just added a loop to it on Kettle creek road.
Just need to take out the dirt road.

This road was so steep and long had to take photo in 3 stages. Couldn't even park bike without sliding down hill.
Turned sideways across road and daughter still had to hold it up.

This was the start of our off road riding. Tons of wet stuff - mud - puddles - large rocks -
water crossing - bridge missing - Oh what fun.

Great stuff both of you......dual sporting on road bikes can be rather .......exciting.

Looks like you had a great time!

We've been up that way a few times ourselves. Always a great trip. I prefer to stay out of the gravel though!

Try turning a fully loaded cruiser around on just a 2 track and if you went off the track it dropped off - what fun.
I really enjoyed riding on ice . LOL
My daughter was laughing at me so hard she was almost crying. (swerving all over)She enjoyed it but after a couple of hours she
was starting to get grumpy.

A few shots of us up at Hyner view...

Nice of you to be mentoring your daughter in touring! Oddly enough I was in that exact area this weekend too. I stayed at a campground in Wellsboro because I left Friday after work and wanted to hit my campground before then - border crossing ruined that plan and I ended up riding an hour in the dark and the rain to my "Grand Canyon" campground.

But Saturday I just booted around the general area - down 144 to 120, did the run to Hyner, then back east on 120 until I found a little road that looked interesting and was and I have no idea what it was called!

It is a great little area that doesn't require a huge investment in time or money and there are so many side roads you can make trip after trip and always find something new! And your daughter's little 250 Virago is such a great bike for these kind of roads - sometimes we forget how much fun these light nimble little bikes can be!

Oh Boy Thanks for posting and those pics could be corbon copies of mine( errr I mean jpeg's of mine :D!! Such a beautiful area, great people and great roads.

I ride in that area quite a bit and was there a couple of weeks ago. It was my first "tour" on my relatively new Multistrada and I had a blast on some dirt-gravel roads around Renovo. On other bikes I've had I never really tried to avoid off roading but didn't seek out dirt either. My riding buddy had a good time on the gravel on his FZ1 too. I don't think riding off road will ever replace riding twisty pavement for me but it sure is a fun challenging way to spice things up a bit. The Multistrada is no GS or KTM Adventure but it sure did better than my old Bandit in the gravel.

It's nice to see that your out there on the bike with your daughter and showing her that you don't need a specific bike to do any kind of riding. Run what you brung!

Lol is she flipping the cam the bird in this pic?

Yep sure is - That is the motorcycle salute if you didn't already know. LOL
You will see that a lot if you are on the ADV site.

I wasn't planning to do dirt but seeing as my gps showed us that route I took it. I have reworked the route
and will go back in the Fall for a Fall ride. (hopefully the leaves with be turned when we go)

It's stunning in the fall but can get way low temp - we ran the gamut of 4 in the morning to 30 in the afternoon - so layer up.

My son is eager to go down but waiting on a better seat for his SV650 - he finds it really uncomfortable. Bit worried the bike is not a good fit for him :(
We're going as far as Darien Lake this weekend and I'll likely do at least a day trip into PA and loop the State Park if the weather is decent. Get some photos.
