Hey all, as I can't make it on the Sunday for the big group ride (booo) I'm looking at going up there solo on Saturday instead and was looking for some suggestions.
This is my thought so far as I can't seem to get google maps to work I'll list out the directions:

- Etobicoke
- 400N to 11N
- 11N to 118E
- 118E to 35N (Carnarvon)
- 35N to Dorset
- 35N to 60E
- 60E to 62S (Barry's Bay)
- 62W to Maynooth
- 62S to Bancroft
- 118W to 507S (or would it be better to take 118W further?)
- 507S to Peterborough
- Peterborough to Home (either 115 - 401 or along 7)

Reading on the site I think I hit a lot of the popular routes on here so if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

This doesnt go INTO algonquin but this was a route we took last year and was tons of fun..unfortunately it was already past the prime time for leaves, a lot of them being on the ground
just to add to the 'ideas' of routes, tons of twisties and not a lot of traffic (it was rainy)

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Looking at my route again I think it may be very tiring so I might cut it down somehow but I've planned on going to Algonquin all summer and I can't pass this op up!

el_felo: the only reason I have the highway up front is the time savings to get there. If I can get away early I may go to Wasaga tonight and leave from there in the morning but not sure yet

LePhillou: awesome route thanks! I'll try and do that before it gets REALLY cold!

if you get lost.. send me a PM i'll come find you.. I can really use the ride up north

That last route is great, I drive up that way often for work. Another suggestion is to stay over in Barry's Bay, stayed at this place on Labour day weekend and loved it. Right beside a lake and about 1.5 km south of hwy 60 on 62 which is nice down to Maynooth and then take Elephant lake road. The luxury rooms are worth the upgrade in my book, fireplace..jacuzzi tub etc. Pic is the view from the front door of the room.

Ughhhh... 12 hours of riding, not including breaks, all in one day? Are you planning to have fun or just ride and ride and ride? One thing I'll suggest very strongly - do NOT go alone. Some of the roads up there are in very bad condition, and if you crash, not many people will ride/drive by you. I got very lucky last year that I had an amazing person in a car behind me when I crashed.

yeah lots of turns, denivellation (!?), but not a lot of traffic....at all

get a sidekick lol

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys! We ended up taking this route... https://www.google.ca/maps?saddr=Et...M0zUYDcriDF31Ukhv8jpWQ&mra=ls&via=4,6&t=m&z=8

which turned out to be freaking awesome! I had a great time and el_felo was a good riding buddy as well. The total time ended up taking around 12hrs with plenty breaks and photo stops along the way. 507 was freaking awesome and I'd say this ride was the highlight of my riding season. Hopefully the warm weather sticks around and I can get a few more longer rides in! I learned that I need a good touring jacket, and a good set of gloves!

Yeah it was fun riding with you as well.. great pics btw!, and yeah the weather was a bit of a challenge but we still managed pretty well.

And now I have a new stop for lunch break in the area! :D

Yes I definitely recommend the small fish and chips place in Bancroft! Delicious food...but bring cash...no cards allowed :(

And with the weather...it only rained AFTER we finished 507!
