"air cooled" motorcycle owners? speak-up!

Air-cooled club? It's not like they are rare. How about a spoked wheel motorcycle club?

What's up with the negativity?

Air-cooled are rare when compared to most street bikes built after 2000. The whole idea was to put together a thread for people that own motorcycles that don't necessarily "fit" the modern scene, these can be old or new, Harley or Honda, spoked or comstar. Who cares. Not everybody has to own an early 70's CB with spoked wheels to be part of this thread.

The use of "club" was just in humour.

I've got the baddest sounding Yamaha xv250 (virago/route 66) in the gta :p. air cooled, dirty single carb, spoked wheels. yes. baddest. yes. 250.

What's that rear tire? It looks a fair bit wider than 120.

130, Gatekeeper nailed it. One size bigger than stock, still able to fit on the rim and clear everything else.

His s/n is retrogrouch... he's a grouch. What do you expect other than negativity? :D

Here's another gratuitous shot... minus fairings, since I scratched them up good last weekend with a lowside crash. :(

I hope you're ok... and good luck with the repairs.

I'm ok, thanks! Still learning my limits. :D Cracked the left side engine cover but already have one on the way from ebay. Thing that's being a pain is the headlight bracket...I tried to straighten it last night and that just bent it all out of shape and then the headlight wouldn't fit back in, I finally got the headlight in after messing around with it for a good hour...now I'm just hoping the fairings will go back on!

'90 gsxr750 here! Would love to meet you kind folks and get an air/oil cooled ride going. I could also use some suggestions on maintaining her. Just rolled over 100K last month. I'd love to treat her special and give her a decent cleaning.

I was going to say something too but my Mom said...........

Hahaha. Well, wanted to try a different look, started sawing, couldn't turn back...had to keep going. I want to clean her up now and either do a proper tail job or bring her back to stock. Engine still runs fantastic. Although all that weight reduction mad quite a difference.

I have never owned anything but air-cooled bikes.

1981 GS850G
1987 GS1150EF
2000 Ducati SS750ie
2006 Ducati Sport 1000 (current bike - track only)

Much to my shame I am now part-owner of a 2003 GSXR600 (endurance race bike).

Radiators are ugly! Cylinder fins are cool!

Was that a choice? Did you find an advantage to sticking with them?

Every Harley-Davidson and Yamaha cruiser?

I'm of the former -- FLTR Road Glide. Very air. Very hot.

Your on the GS resources forum right? infact i think i remember the thread. That stator needs to be replaced.

Yep, that's me. Funny you should mention that. My new stator, reg/rec came in the mail yesterday. Purchased from Electrosport in CA. They were the last part's I needed before I could bolt everything back together. Going to be a busy weekend but hope to have her ready to go by Sunday. Will have better pics by then. *Fingers crossed!
