Im trying to decide on Glove size.

My hand measures 9 inches/23cm so I'm right on the border between Medium and Large.
(sizing chart is below)

im ordering online. should i go with the Medium or Large?

anyone ever have to make a similar call on a glove?

Thanks

good idea, but not an option.

not available in the area. i can only get it online.

Go to a shop, try some on and then order online if its cheaper.
That's not cool. At least give a chance to the local guy to earn your business. Don't be a ******.

OP, I would go with the larger size myself. If this particular glove is not available in Canada, try other models from the same brand to figure out the sizing. Also, ask if they can order the glove in for you if they don't have it in stock. Price won't be much higher than online and you're helping our local shops to stay open.

I'd rather go a little bit bigger than smaller (lol). If its too small, it would be very uncomfortable and restrict your hand. if its a little bigger, fatten up your hands xD

Most gloves today do not stretch. So fitting is not as it use to be. Lots of gloves go to the Kangaroo or Lambskin and becasue it is thinner they add
synthetics behind it to reinforce it. The problem here is it feels good in the store but then when you ride your palm spreads out a bit and you get serious
pain or worse form the glove and protectors.
So if you try gloves on ensure you hold your hand in a fist on a bike handle bar for a good 15 minutes to see if you have any pressure points.
Then when ordering online find out what the places policy is for returning the glove if it is too big/small.
If they have no solution then move on.
When ordering on line be careful of counterfeit gloves.

I grabbed some new kevlar gloves from Wayne at Motoport last month.
They suggest you send a picture of your hand with a ruler drawing beside it (for their sizing reference)...i did that and he recommended Medium.
Gloves arrived from California and were a little tight when i closed my fist. He suggested he would send a large (my usual size-and they fit great) and told me to keep the ones that fit best and return the other.
He was really, really nice and the gloves (though kinda ugly) feel like they are extremely well made and very protective.
I decided to keep the medium pair for my girlfriend.
I got hit with taxes on the second pair (plus the lame $10 admin fee) but Wayne was great to deal with throughout.
Any chance that is where you are ordering from? Either way- i'd go with the larger size if you are right on the border. Not sure- but i think our hands might swell a little in the heat too?

I'd say don't buy anything you can't try on unless you're willing to absorb the costs of returning it or the gloves are cheap. I have short wide hands so finding gloves that fit perfectly is nearly impossible. I generally go by finger length and hope everything else will stretch out. Usually it does but I often have a hard time getting my hands into the gloves because the ones that are short enough are also too narrow.

Usually I end up with a glove I can barely get my hand into, all the fingers fit properly except the pinky is always a bit too long and the thumb is too short. Dunno why. Just how my hands are shaped, I guess. Last pair of gloves I bought were just some thick elkskin work gloves for around town (I know they're not as protective as proper motorcycle gloves) and they are probably the only pair of leather gloves I've ever bought that all the fingers fit properly.

agree!!!

I would never buy gloves online .. rather buy from local guy and try them on first.

I bought a pair of Velocity gloves early last year, and basically due to sizing were very uncomfortable.
Talked to Jimmy, and he switched out for next size up .. no issues.

Thats customer service for you ..

Bingo! Gear is not an online buy. I've seen the same size jackets from the same brand fit differently. Better off to shop for that stuff in person. You'll get better advice/help and even if it costs a little more the perfect fit is worth it

I've heard that leather gloves stretch quite a bit. If that's the case, I would go with the smaller size. I recently bought a pair of gloves online and went with the smaller size because I was told they would stretch. I did get the change to go over to GP and try them on first...then ordered them online because they were more than 50% cheaper.
