Hi all,
I'm planning a tour of new york this summer with some friends. We'll all be riding sport bikes (1st gen R1, 1st gen R6, GSXR600K5, ZX7RRN1). Two of us (R1, ZX7) have toured on our bikes before. We rode from Toronto to Indianapolis in one day (~8 hours). The other two have no long distance riding experience. I'm plotting a 4-5 day route route to some nicer roads and scenes in the upper New York state area. This is what I've got so far:
Day 1 - Toronto to Binghampton along I-86. Fast flowing highways ~5 hours
Day 2 - Binghampton to Burlington, Vermont via I-86 and I-87. Most fast flowing highways with some water near Burlington ~ 4 hours
Day 3 - Burlington, Vermont to Lake Placid, NY via back roads and Ferry or bridges ~2 hours plus exporing the mountains
Day 4 - ?
Day 5 - ?
Any suggestions on nice roads back to Toronto? I wouldn't want more than 5 hours of riding a day given the back to back riding and the new riders. 401 is obviously bland and I'm not familiar with good backroads along St. Lawrence.
