Accident #3 - U-turner from the right lane

Because in Ontario, your own insurance company pays for your vehicle damages (Direct Compensation Property Damage) and your personal injuries regardless of who is at fault. They don't even recover such from the other insurance company of the at-fault party as it should overall wash-out between companies and there should be savings on the legal costs to do such. Did you vote NDP?

I can imagine that the only time an at fault party would agree to pay your damages would be if they 1. didn't understand DCPD, 2. want to avoid an official accident report with a corresponding finding of fault by their insurance co. and related policy increase...

I wasn't very clear I guess; my insurance company didn't like the fact that how I tried to negotiate with the guy and waited for a week to call in, as opposed to calling in on the same day.

And I don't vote. I'm on a student visa =)

Why was there a man on the back of your bike??

Cause not everyone is homophobic. + Thats more of a North American "rule"(2 balls to a bike), hes an International student.

Section 199(1) of the hta.

199. (1) Every person in charge of a motor vehicle or street car who is directly or indirectly involved in an accident shall, if the accident results in personal injuries or in damage to property apparently exceeding an amount prescribed by regulation, report the accident forthwith to the nearest police officer and furnish him or her with the information concerning the accident as may be required by the officer under subsection (3). R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 199 (1); 2002, c. 17, Sched. F, Table.

FYI. The amount is combined 1000. So if there are injuries or damage in total of 1000 you must report the accident according to the hta. Especially since it's not your fault, I'd be reporting it asap

Seriously.

Sounds like you are too trusting of other drivers. I'm very quick on the horn on my bike. People suck.

7 yrs on a bike under my belt...... horns don't make much of a difference... ppl who change lanes without checking blind spots has their music blasting and doesn't pay attention... or some really old guy that can't hear anything.... I had to pull back into a parking spot to avoid getting hit by this old man backing up into me this past saturday. Best way is to look out for yourself and be alert. I have tried pulling in the clutch and revving high and it definitely worked better then a horn...

I hear ya. I just find that using the horn before a high-speed intersection makes impatient/aggressive left-turners stop right in their tracks and look up.

I think my biggest problem as a city rider is those c***f***s who don't consider bikes to be real vehicles. They expect you to just zip around them.
