A new record ?

That's the upside to a one-way ticket to Alert. Sure the plane ticket costs a few grand but after that, very little future expenditure required as they attempt to walk home.

What does the condemned do to earn his / her keep while there?

This is the problem with socialism. Don't get me wrong I'm socialist at heart but as Thatcher said "At some time you run out of other people's money to spend."

It really doesn't matter if the person is an incorrigible drunk or just a slacker. How do you change them from a scourge to someone who at least is responsible for their own care?

A deadbeats get free housing, wrecks the place and then gets a new place. Food money is spent on beer or drugs and food comes from a food bank. Do we go Nazi Germany on them and off them, send them to work camps?

The problem isn't simple to solve in that a lot of people have mental issues. Phobias, PSTD, dependencies etc. I had a friend who was a classic alcoholic. Figure out why and how to fix it and become a billionaire. If we start neutralizing people that don't fix the Stepford lifestyle GTAM would disappear.

Trade offs: Stop feeding, medicating and housing people and they turn to crime. Hookers spread STD's. Crime gets more violent. More break-ins. Welcome to the USA.

Well, someone has to keep providing him with a vehicle. Tag his name in the Service Ontario database, that he can NOT register a vehicle. Seize the vehicle each time he is caught. Eventually, he will run out of vehicle options. Create a new HTA section that states, if you lend your vehicle to a person with a lifetime ban YOUR vehicle is forfeited to the crown, (there already is an HTA section, which you can be charged with, if you lend your vehicle to a person, with no valid DL), IE suspended driver. But, it is just a fine. Under the new section you should, lose your vehicle.

IF your close enough that your comfortable lending your vehicle to someone, you should be close enough to know if they have/don't have a licence, so you can't claim "ignorance"

Odds are he is just buying a used vehicle, not registering it, not even changing over the ownership to his name (leaving it in the sellers name). Then tossing on a stolen or expired (with stolen sticker) plate(s) and he is off (of course no insurance). Not much different than guys riding dirty these days. One trick the "smarter" ones use is to acquire out of province or even US stolen plates...

I doubt anyone is lending him their legit plated and insured car.

The only method that will work is jail time, but even with this the person will be back at it after they get out. So it only stops it while they are in jail.

Is 22 prohibition orders worse than eight lifetime bans? I honestly don't know. Obviously both of these morons give no &%&*%&% about any punishment (or lack thereof) that has been dished out to them.

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at approximately 5:20 p.m., police received information about an orange Corvette driving erratically on Taunton Road in Oshawa. Later, an officer from Central West Division observed the vehicle at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 2 at Garrard Road in Whitby. The vehicle did not stop at the red light and the vehicle was not pursued due to safety concerns.

Further investigation identified the driver as Adam SIMEUNOVICH, age 43, the subject of 22 drive disqualifications and a federal parolee. On the evening of Wednesday, November 11, 2020, the male was located getting out of a cab while returning to a residence in Lindsay. He was arrested by members of the DRPS Offender Management Unit, without incident.

He is charged with: Operation While Prohibited x22; Dangerous Operation and Drive Motor Vehicle While Suspended. He was held for a bail hearing.

EDIT:
Google his name and you get a news article from almost every year discussing his bad driving and full of terms like "menace on wheels" and "completely incorrigible".

:sneaky:Learn to build a real good igloo, fish through the ice, search for a nice native girl to hang out with and keep you warm, I think that's what I would do.

Through past stupidity (and/or addiction) they have dug a giant hole and basically have nothing to lose. Put them in jail, taxpayers pay the bill, when they get out they will still be in a giant hole and still have nothing to lose, rinse and repeat. Still the least worst option and at least they do not do it while sitting in a cell.
