250 to 600 steering question...

so i just bought a cbr 600 F4i after riding a 250. i noticed that it's harder to turn...turn right especially in other words there's more fight from the bike. it is like it almost doesn't want to turn. is this normal? my 250 i could just throw any direction i wanted.

The F4i is a much bigger, heavier bike then a CBR 250, hence the difference. SS bikes don't have a good turning radius at slow speeds either. You'll get used to it eventually.

250s are easier to throw around.

However, having an old crappy squared out hard tired will do the exact same thing. Check the tires.

Rake, trail, geometry all affect turning as does tire pressure, size and steering bearings. You'll adapt. Just be careful slow turns with the front brake - learn to feather the rear.

Wider tires, more weight, more engine gyroscopic effect, nothing handles better than a small bike.

Just make sure the tires are good and at the proper pressure and you'll adapt. Even a couple of lbs low in pressure is noticeable as heavier steering.

Those 600's like to twist around their own axis. They're almost 650 Burgmanish. Not for the faint of heart.

I also just did the same as you coming from a 250r. No I don't notice much of a difference between the two bikes in terms of steering effort. Maybe slightly but nothing that would concern you. I thought my friends rr required noticably more force but not so much the f4i. Perhaps get it checked out? Msg me if ever near Burlington.

If the bike was sitting for a long time on a side stand, the head bearings could have gotten notched and corroded on one side. But that should have been checked in the safety certification.

My old CBX250 was more fun in the corners than my GSXR750....on tight public roads.

No doubt, but corners are damn FAAAAAR especially on fun bikes. And those 2 corners on derry don't count...

Op best advice I saw was have it checked out if you feel there's an issue. If know someone experienced to have a look great. If not a good mechanic can tell you.
