Hi everyone, I'm new to riding and looking for my first bike. I'd like to get a 2014 Ninja 300, preferably with ABS and I like the Special Edition green. Any dealerships you guys could recommend? I know of Kahuna Motorsports, but I'd like to save a few bucks if I can. Please let me know! Thanks.

First bikes tend to make contact with the ground, I recommend buying a prescuffed bike.

+1

Why do you want a 2014? You're not going to save money buying brand new.

Not to mention the 2014 model is identicle to the 2013 minus the possible ecu swap from when the 2013s suddenly shut off. But most kawi dealerships deal with this for free anyways

Saw a 2013 on the dyno yesterday that the rider had in for that same complaint, they were able to replicate the problem (high RPM, pull clutch in, drops so fast it stalls). I'll let him know Kawi can flash/swap the ECU to fix it, when he first called them last year they just told him he was a noob and to learn how to ride :(

^ This. I'm a new rider this season, found a 2009 Ninja 250 with low KM in great shape for $3,000. Definitely consider buying used. The post 2008 (to my knowledge) Ninjas are so similar it's almost not worth buying brand new.

I love my '09 250 and she runs like a dream. No repairs required so far!

Damn dude that sucks tell him to go on the kawi forums and show the kawi dealership that its a recurring problem.

Another issue that was not fixed with the 2013 models since the 14s was the rust on the exhaust due to the material of the exhaust which contains a lot of iron. Another issue which I do not know was fixed was the fairing gap on the 13s.

if he has any of these issues see if the dealership would do anything about it.

I bought my Brand new 2014 Ninja SE ABS Green from Snow City Cycle Marine here in Toronto.
Have bought my previous bike there as well. Great people! See Andy and tell him Derek sent ya! He'll take care of you!.

Great bike BTW! I LOVE IT!!!!

I bought a 2013 Ninja a couple months ago. The 2014's were rolling in, so I hoped to be able to negotiate a great deal on a new 2013, that's been sitting around for a year.

I searched all the Kawasaki dealerships in Ontario, reviewed their current inventory and prices. I then started negotiations based on comparisons.

Motorsports Pickering gave me the best deal. I was incredibly happy as my out the door price was less then the bikes original MSRP.

Buy current models, during the current season don't have much room for negotiating. That was my experience anyway.

Good luck and have fun!

Edit: ECU swaps and recalls must be done before the dealership sells the bike. I've had zero stalling issues. Well, as long as my kickstand is up. :)

Yep. Motorsports Pickering had one last 2013 Ninja 300 ABS SE that I tried to snag but someone had just bought it the day before; they had it for a good price.

Good luck finding find a 2013/2014 "used" for reasonable price though. It was pretty much cheaper for me to buy new.

I seriously doubt that.
Count on losing 20% of the total price paid just for driving out the dealer.

Ninja 250s are asking ~$3K. Don't pay attention to Kijiji ads and asking prices, because that's no where near reality.

Keep in mind, for 18-25s who tend to want these bikes, they have no money, so they buy new to finance, and this makes selling used difficult.

As for the bike itself, it's nice, but over priced, and Yamaha's R2.5/R3 was just announced in Europe and will get full announcement on May 20th.

Even if you don't like the Yamaha, the MSRP will likely be lower than the Kawi and dealer prices will respond.

I've never bought a new bike at MSRP, does anyone pay MSRP?

If you want a laugh (or maybe cry?) head on over to the dedicated Ninja 300 forums. There is a thread dedicated to out the door prices. Don't take my word for it though...

It's a huge thread, but your jaw will drop when you see what some dealers got from people. Short answer - some people do pay full MSRP. Oh, and they finance that as well...

I guarantee there are people with $10,000 Ninjas (MSRP + freight + pdi + financing).

Sure, because they can't do math and realize the total price, only the monthly payments. When they get a little older, they'll get into bidding wars for some crap shack in Mississauga.

Dealers are taking advantage of the fact that there is high demand for this bike right now. But, if the Yamaha R 250/300 is as promised, that will all change.

I would wait until May 20th and see what Yamaha Canada announces on the new 300, plus an FZ7/9 style 300 is going to be out by the summer as well.

The "s" in MSRP is for sucker.

Try Snow city or St. onge. Like other's say buy used but the 2014 se green is really nice. Get some T-rex sliders for it.

Also, the 2013 ecu issue was a recall. takes 15 minutes to fix. Don't let that dissuade you from a 2013.

You're telling me your seriously doubting that, but then on the other hand you're telling me to ignore kijiji ads/asking prices. Which is it? Or where else does one buy a used bike aside from the dealerships? I tried auto trader, kijiji, etc and nobody wanted to drop their price because it's "brand new" and has all sorts of useless cosmetic modifications. And mind you, there were no ABS ones on sale when I was buying; put it this way, I paid what these yoyos wanted for used bikes plus a tad more + taxes and I got a brand new bike, with ABS. No worries about if it was dropped, mistreated, etc.

Not sure where Ninja 250s are coming into the equation as the thread is about the Ninja 300.

Not quite, maybe do some research on kawi and the 2013 lineup.

The 2014 production for Kawi bikes was moved to Japan due to quality control issues (eg. faring gaps, ECU problems, rough set ups, just ****** work in general.) This includes the 636 and a few other bikes as well. I would also advise buying used as its a far better value, but if you can find a used 2014 go for that it will save you a headache replacing fasteners and all that junk later on just to make the bike fit like its supposed to (unless you can find one with a warranty). If they were willing to suck up the cost of moving production to another country to improve quality that really says something about the 2013's. Not saying they are all bad or the 2014's are perfect but there was a reason behind the move. Just something to think about!
