2013 VW Golf Wagen TDI Comfortline - First Driving Impressions

My 93 had so many minor issues, thankfully nothing major... fuel filters, glow plugs, glow plug fuse, wiper motor siezed, locks froze in winter, washer fluid pump failed etc etc

the 2000 wasn't has bad, but still have annoying stuff happen, radio died, rear hatch latch broke, antenna broke off (i think a bird may be guilty for this one), a million blown taillight bulbs, premature wheel bearing etc

i know the new motors are night and day differences but hows the build on the rest of the car?

My 01 was fine until it crossed the 300k mark. Then everything went within 2 years: motor mounts, AC, steering rack, suspension & bushings, timing belt snapped (wasn't due yet), clutch, and more. Then right after spending thousands getting it all fixed up and in immaculate condition, some lady ran a red on me and wrote it off.

Just got back from Deals Gap last night - drove my '06 the whole 1350 km with only a couple of fuel and pee breaks (the pee breaks were more frequent than the fuel breaks ! ! !) It did 600 km like clockwork until the low fuel light comes on, with a heavy trailer hauling 2 bikes. The seats (leather) are comfortable for the long haul even after years of use. The accurate, firm, bank-vault-stable steering that is typical of VW also makes it easier on the driver. It now has just short of 429,000 km. Timing belt due in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

I do find the leather seats in my '06 to be more comfortable than the cloth seats in my dad's 2011 Golf Comfortline ... but he doesn't like leather seats.
