Carbs don't suck lol. Why do so many people think that..?
I have an '02 R6. 65,000 km's. She runs strong as hell, starts in the cold with no issues. Carbs require a wee bit more maintenance, which to some people is a "fun" thing to do. They are excellent bikes, they are much more aggressive than the F4i. They are also much more fun (personal opinion); Depends on your riding style. My R6 is done up really nicely, lots of work. Looks great and performs very well. Couldn't ask for anything more than it. I tour on it, ride fast on it, 2 up, everything. It's my general purpose machine. Went -1, +3 on the sprockets (aluminum) with a D.I.D ERV3 chain, gave it ouudles of torque. The newer R6's lack low down power. Once you hit the power band, you won't complain though.. The older models are just fine, as they do indeed have power down low. I top out at 222km/h now (Speedo Healer), but the acceleration is quite impressive. No need to go over 220, who likes straight lines anyways? Look out for the second gear issue, bikes that are ridden properly won't get the issue. Hard shift from first into second. Sloppy half kicks up are what cause the issue. It's common and very easy to permanently fix with parts from the 03.
