Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Polestar is assembled in China, and for the Americans, that's the issue. It's unclear why platform-mate Volvo-badged vehicles aren't affected (yet). The Canadian market is diverging from the US market.

At Hockley General Store now, having taken a long way here! Eyes on the weather for this afternoon. "Risk of strong thunderstorms" doesn't sound too appealing.

    DOT sticker?

Hypothesis: the ones with the DOT label were sourced from a US warehouse prior to the vendor rerouting their supply chain, and the one you have happened after that. Helmets can sit in inventory for a long time ... If it has the E-mark on the chin strap, it's fine.

    DOT sticker?

Halfway down this article ... https://www.motocentral.co.uk/blogs/advice-explainers/ece-22-06-motorcycle-helmet-guide You just made me go check my own helmets. My race helmet is a Scorpion but it's an older model (2022) and it has DOT and ECE 22.05 markings on the back of the shell in the...

    DOT sticker?

It is ECE 22.06 compliant. That standard is accepted here, but not in USA. Label will be inside somewhere. My new HJC helmet is the same way. I am thinking that distributors have rerouted their supply chains to a European warehouse instead of USA because of ... take one guess.

Do Quebec`s rules for new riders make sense?

From the list, it looks like all of the criteria have to be met, if one of these conditions aren't met then it's OK. (Does anyone see any bike on their prohibited list that does not meet all of these criteria? There are some that don't have a passenger seat at all.) It's unclear what's meant by...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I finished the rear wheel bearing job. Installed the new bearing for the sprocket carrier, installed the new outer seals. I also identified what type of grease the bearings use and packed the space between the outer seal and bearing with the same type of grease, which is now sealed in by the...

Forecast is looking like this won't matter, but regardless, I'm out this week. I'm driving to Calabogie on Thursday with my race bike in the van for the joint VRRA/CSBK race weekend. VRRA's Modern Lightweight and CSBK Lightweight Sportbike are running together on track. Final is scheduled for...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Back together but with a list. New wheel bearings spent overnight in the freezer, and went in no problem. I didn't change the sprocket carrier bearing because I need better circlip pliers to get that apart, but that bearing feels fine, so this can wait until the next tire change (which is in the...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Anything straight inserted from the other side will miss the outer race completely because of the smaller ID of the lip inboard of the bearing. Anyhow, it's out. One of the other local retired folk was a tool and die maker and still has some machine shop equipment. He made a special tool with a...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Other bearing is already out. Remaining bearing is already smashed apart. The issue is that the inside diameter of the still-pressed-in outer race, is bigger than the lip in the wheel casting inboard of the bearing. A straight object inserted from the other side rests on the cast lip and...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Yeah I just took it apart. Problem at the moment is that there's a lip inboard of the bearing that's smaller than the outer race, and I haven't figured out a way to extract it.

What did you do in your garage today..?

So ... yesterday ... my ZX10R stranded me. Evidently stock wheel bearings last 159 071 km. Rear wheel bearing let the rear wheel start going wibbly-wobbly with no warning, and it now makes crunching noises when moving. Fortunately this happened on a ride out with buddies, shout out to "The...

    Stocks

Don't want to own it because the valuations are insane; don't want to be short it because private investors (cult members?) are insane, don't want anything to do with it because regulators have been bought off and are insane. I have now seen several independent-media sources which are all...

    Is this riding season abnormal?

An increase from 1 to 5 is 500%. Not good, but percentage increases or decreases are wacky when small numbers and statistical fluctuations are involved.
