Is crossing into the US a breeze now?

Forgive me for being out of touch or not conducting a thorough search first. I am itching to go to Lake Placid by way of the Prescott crossing. I haven't been to the States since 2019 and will only go when things are back to normal. I've had my three shots. What have others experienced lately...

Night time riding? What is the really hazard?

I stopped riding after dark at least 15 years ago. I have a dark shield on my helmet and never bother switching back to clear at all. If you are riding at night with a windshield and glasses and it starts to rain you just can't see worth crap. I've done that from Windsor to Barrie and the risk...

    Southwood 13 - still a stink bomb

It's a shame that no one is in a hurry to get Southwood 13 back in fine riding shape. I gave up on it last year with hopes that this year would be better. Nope. I'm sure plenty of others have got rolling just to find loose gravel in the tightest turns. Has anyone run the full distance with a...

How far have you gone this year

About 8,000km and that's average for me. I'm only 4km from the office, so 0 commuter kms. Most of my riding is within 1/2 hour from home as I don't do long distance like I used to. Only two overnight trips this year and they were both quickies.

Southwood Rd (13) Gravenhurst Today, anyone want to join?

Well, I rode Southwood 13 from west to east on Saturday morning and the conditions were just about the best I've seen. Not that much sand really and the areas with newer pavement are quite nice. I noticed near the 'moonscape' area where the trees disappear that there were MANY people stopped...

Southwood Rd (13) Gravenhurst Today, anyone want to join?

Hi there - have you ridden the full length of the road yet this year? I've been avoiding it so far because of the usual sand and bumps. It also got bumpy on Muskoka Rd 9 today. I was out from 6:30 until 11 so am done riding, but enjoy. -Al

    Toronto to Hudson's bay

The moral I get here is to know your copper grades. Talk to a plumber before you hit the road...

Recommendations for Motorcycle Friendly places to stay in Ottawa

I stay at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Kanata. There is an outstanding pedestrian mall next door with every dining option you could want. Carling Ave. will get you to the parkway to enjoy the scenic route down town. A good place to park right down town is 100 Queen St. under the World Exchange...

Would you tour on this Strom

I thought that I wanted a DL650 for about 4 years and then I finally bought a used 06. It had a good sized Givi top box, gel seat, chopped black screen, Dan Vesel backrest and foot pegs. What it was missing was a rumble and a roar. I'm bored by chain drive bikes. I need to feel and hear what the...

    Lake Placid ride late August

I will be riding from the Barrie area to Lake Placid NY towards the end of August and with a close eye on the weather forecast. A maximum of three nights to keep it simple. I may be dreaming but I am welcoming any woman with a bike to come along for the ride. It's the absolute best region you...

    Carnarvon Esso closed for good

It looks like the gas station at 118 and 35 is closed for good. It has always been a dump and the latest owners have been too cheap to fix the washroom. Nevertheless it was in a perfect location and I have filled up there for over 25 years. Hopefully they tear it down and build a new station and...

    FF versus 3/4 Helmets

I will never settle for anything less than a full face with the chin skirt left in. Years ago when I had a 'standard' helmet with a snap on visor I had to remember to keep kleenex in my pocket. To pick the bugs out of the corner of my eyes. When I got home, break out the Seabreeze and cotton...

    Barrie guy here...

I am not new to riding or to this forum. I joined many years ago but I must have 'expired' somehow, from inactivity. I have owned 5 v-twins in the last 30 years. I'm currently on an 08 Honda VTX1300C which seems to be the last of the great single carb cruisers. I also owned an 86 Shadow 1100...
