I ride a 97 Yamaha YZF1000 (Thunderace). It's a bit on the porky side but is amazingly stable on highways and twisties. Extended twisties at higher speed could be a bit of a workout, but it is great at sane speeds. It carried me, a pillion and quite a bit of luggage and my camping equipment...

Props to Glen, he gets me (hard to find) parts for my Thunderace faster and cheaper than anyone else. :thumbup:

It depends on how tall / heavy you are and where you plan to do most of your riding. If you plan on riding highway/longer distances later on, then I'd suggest go with a 250. Either one makes a good starter bike, with the 125, you'll probably outgrown it sooner than a 250.

Passed my test today in Downsview, with one minor fault (didn't observe hazard in residential street, passed a parked truck too close). Still glad since it was cold, raining and windy...and that was my only 'fault'... Thanks to the OP for posting this and everyone else for their suggestions... :D
