Harley Davidson Leather "Motorclothes" - Fashion or Function?

I ride a Harley and I wear Dainese and Bristol leather gear. I prefer not to be covered head to toe in HD branded stuff, but I do like my leather protection. i have a pair of Harley boots however, and they are as good quality as any other boots I’ve owned. Let’s just say a lot of HD stuff is...

How to not spend $25,000 on a $9,500 motorcycle like this guy did

Wow….just wow! Who the **** spends that much on a mediocre bike, then has almost nothing good to say about all the custom work he had done? And worse, the thing doesn’t look any better than stock. The guy has a garage full of bikes, doesn’t he have the tools to bolt on a bunch of crap himself...

Is Harley Davidson a Premium Brand?

You outright admit ignorance of the Harley brand yet you proclaim they are overpriced and mediocre. Make up your mind.

    Waterproof motorcycle gauntlet gloves

My Klim Fusion gloves are Goretex lined and they keep me warm and dry enough that I use them for both skiing and riding Nothing short of rubber dishwashing gloves will be truly waterproof on a bike. The wind forces water into the most well-constructed seams eventually.

KLR 650 vs DR650 ...which is best ?

I’ve owned 2 DR650’s over the years. Simple, go anywhere machines. Kind of primitive but you can dress them up to go anywhere on earth. And I never had any problems with either of them except it’s not the greatest on the highway.m

bought a bike a few months ago...already selling it

Suggestion: when an ad starts with ‘just putting feelers out there’’ I usually don’t read further because it doesn’t make a seller look serious or motivated to sell. Just my opinion.

2021 Honda Trail 125 ABS - would you buy one ?

It would be a fun second bike for buzzing around the city or the cottage, but not in between. You could probably throw one on a bumper hitch and take it anywhere.

    How often do you ride?

I’m retired so I ride a few times a week. Some weekday solo rides, some weekend group rides, plus occasional trips, I often take one of my bikes rather than the car to shop, run errands or visit friends/family. I treat them as both a pastime and a regular mode of transportation.

    Toyota Matrix

My Matrix was one of the best, most practical small cars I ever had, bought it new, 5 speed, put almost 200k on it. Rear interior was all plastic so you could toss whatever in the back.

What happened to the 600cc bikes?!

THe new mid size twins are far more tractable and easier to push close to their limits. The mid size naked sport sector is booming.

You can replace a MT07 throttle tube with an R6 throttle tube for quicker throttle. Common, cheap mod.

    Favorite "go-to" locations?

I just ride to get ‘lost’ and follow the road. I always make it home. I’ve found so many nice twisty, scenic roads north of Toronto toward Georgian Bay, but half the time, I don’t even know the names or locations of some of the amazing roads I find!

    Any Sportster Riders?

This is true, but, once again, it sucked the primitive character out of the bike, which was what personally appealed to me in my first Sportsters. That single carburetor hanging out there between the cylinders makes it so simple for even a beginner home mechanic to modify the intake/jetting to...

    Any Sportster Riders?

I’ve had 3 Sportsters. The first 2 were rubber mount, 883c then a 1200s. I loved the rough, brutal simplicity of the 883 after having refined Japanese bikes for many years. The 1200 was more refined. However, they were both reliable, simple bikes that were easy to maintain and took me far. I...

    New Yamaha R-7

We laugh at the marketing hype for a 50cc machine, but remember, many countries consider little scooters everyday transportation and there’s tons of them everywhere. This just adds a little flair to stand out in a flooded market. And I bet it’s fun to zip around on.

    New Yamaha R-7

I have an XSR700 with the same CP2 engine. It really is a fantastic engine in a fun bike that you can actually push close to it’s realistic limits. Sportbikes aren’t for me any more, but if they set it up properly, an R7 with the CP2 engine will make any decent rider feel like a hero.

New HD 2021 Electra Glide Revival

Most of the members here are average schmoes who love and ride motorcycles. Some just get by, and ride whatever they can afford and some of us have the financial resources to own multiple bikes and don’t flinch at the $20k+ price tags on many new bikes these days. There is a substantial...
