fri nite, hamilton, stunt gone wrong

A heads up that a linked vid is disturbing wouldn't hurt. You can't unwatch stuff and just because I use a computer doesn't mean I want to watch videos of people getting hurt. I see that at work enough, thanks.

New Rider - the ABS dilema

It's interesting how some people always argue against change. My brother still argues against seatbelts, for example. No evidence can convince him. Similar thing here with ABS. I have it on my current bike. I practice emerency stopping all the time. I almost never brake hard enough to get the...

Full leather for street riding stupid?

Wear what you like and shut up about what others should or shouldn't wear. Other than un-informed passengers, it's no one else's business. For what it's worth, I wear two piece leathers almost always. Never less than a leather jacket with armour under jeans. I ride in temps approaching 40C and...

BC 299 km/h suspect not guilty.

I'm curious as to whether the cops would have seized his vehicle if it was a high end car - say a Lambo or Ferrari. I suspect not. Two things acting against the rider in this case, I think, were the perceived lower value and the sense that bikes are "toys". It shouldn't matter but I bet it did.

    Aprillia in rough waters

What do you expect anyone to do? The primary killer is insurance and no one wants to reduce insurance company profits. The unfortunate reality is that there is no incentive for anyone to promote increased motor vehicle use by young people, except manufacturers. And they don't want to bother...

    New Helmet Technology

As I understand the quote, the author is writing that the helmet's safety potential isn't being used at low impact. Shock is NOT being absorbed by the helmet and is being transferred to the head inside it. So, yes, in some cases a low impact could cause more injury than a higher impact that...

    Axis vs. Allies

The Luger is a 1908 model. The Walther P-38 was not as well designed or made but more effective and cheap. Still pretty darn good. Interesting to note that often Germans were grabbing Russian weapons and Americans were grabbing German weapons and everyone was grabbing Czech weapons. :D OP -...

To hell with modulated headlights.....these really work and low cost solution to viz

Me? And you'll still get pasted by some moron if you don't rely on yourself to be aware of what's going on and give yourself an out. On the "lots of lights on the front end" thing. Keep in mind that .. agh, nevermind, nothing anyone writes will convince the "believers" anyone that these...

    Bullys Beware...

What bugs me about this type of crap is all the friends and family of the bully who know what he's doing and do nothing about it or excuse it. Grrr.

Anyone else a huge fan of the pumpkin beers like myself??

No one in their right mind thinks Coors Light tastes like anything, never mind beer. :D My point was that I like beers that don't have raspberry, blueberry or rhodedendrum added to it so that it doesn't taste like beer. Same with schnapps. I prefer mine without the peppermint. YMMV.

My daughter likes it. Me? Not so much. I prefer beer that tastes like beer.

Honda cbr new battery wont start.

The sidestand switch has tripped me up more than once as well. Also the kill switch (I love my current bike in that the starter is the kill switch - it's a toggle - so you can't forget that you have the kill switch tripped. Clever Germans). $135 seems steep for a battery. May want to research...

    Riding local = safer

He may have a desire to be safe, but he is uninformed and ignorant of risk. That won't lead to safe riding. And the OP is asking for insights. The lack of gear is merely ironic for someone that claims concern about their safety. I couldn't care less whether the OP's friend wears gear or not, but...

To hell with modulated headlights.....these really work and low cost solution to viz

It's a fact that flashing lights or very bright lights (hi-beams) make it difficult to judge the distance of the object. Yes, this applies to emergency vehicles too. I think flashing lights are annoying as hell. My view is that if you expect other drivers to see you in order to keep yourself...

C'mon Baggsy, "everyone knows" that. :D It can NEVER be the rider's fault when they crash.

Average displacement of a Harley Davidson?

Maybe downtown but in the 905 almost everything is a Road King or some other large displacement type. According to most HD riders, Sportsters are girly, LOL.
