Battery YTX14-BS - anyone here using one?

I bought a battery off Amazon and they sent me the wrong one by mistake. They are sending me a refund, but won't take it back, since they don't accept return shipping on batteries. I'd rather not take a brand new battery to the HHW depot and prefer to give it to someone who can use it. And I'd...

    1st gen KLR 650 feedback

Hold on a sec... are you the one person that liked the styling of the gen2 better than the gen1? Former KLR owner here: Could it annhilate speed bumps and allow me to disregard all things cast wheels couldn't? Yes Did I avoid receiving a single speeding ticket in my 3 years of ownership? Yes Is...

Road conditions - north and eastern areas

Sure here you go: Google Maps There's a lot of different ways to get from the Stouffville area up towards Bancroft and that just happened to be the one we chose for that ride, mostly because it's one of the fastest with decent scenery and curvy roads.

    Window shopping again

I know a few Strommers who went from the 650 or 1000 to the triple of the Tracer9 and said the Yammie was an infinitely more fun bike to ride than either of those Stroms. If not going off road - the Yammie would be my choice from your list, or the base model 1050 Strom. I've personally found...

Road conditions - north and eastern areas

The only road that had any sand on it was 504 through Coe Hill. The 511 and 508/65 were amazing. Just after the hard packed gravel on South Lavant, there is still a short section that is the old pavement, but the whole new section that was recently repaved was very nice and well worth the...

Road conditions - north and eastern areas

I was on South Lavant Rd today and the western 5km is hard packed gravel. Very easy for any kind of bike and worth riding over it to enjoy the huge portion that was repaved over the last few years. The 509 between Hwy 7 and South Lavant was fine, so maybe the western part of it has some road work.

Saturday May 30 - anyone up for a ride up north?

Haven't been on one proper ride yet this year. Anyone interested in going north, or northeast tomorrow? Nothing super long - thinking somewhere around 800km. I'd like to be home by 6pm. PM or post up if interested!

    2026 Rides

Thanks! Been over 10 years since I was up near Mattawa, so looking forward to it. And I always pass by the Elliot Lake area on the TC, but never head up that way, so that will be a new one for me.

    2026 Rides

Hey Mike have you been up towards Aubrey Falls or around Elliot Lake area at all recently? I'm thinking of heading up there and wondering how the TransCanada and the southern portion of the 129 are. Here's the route: Google Maps

So I tried motocamping for the first time...

I love moto camping and wish I did it more often. Lately when I go on trips with others, the people I’m with prefer to stay in motels so we don’t camp. Motels are great for saving space, weight and time, but there’s something equally great about sleeping outdoors and waking up to the sound of...

Road conditions - north and eastern areas

Planning a few rides over the next month to include the Frontenac, Calabogie, Algonquin, Haliburton and Muskoka areas. Curious if any of the good roads are under construction or maybe got especially beat up this past winter. Thanks!

    2026 Rides

Hey @Mad Mike how are the roads up there right now? I have a work thing that might take me up there for a night in a week or two and debating if I should ride up if I should go.

    Basecamp

I'm still using it and love it. Several years I ago I spent $99 for a lifetime gold membership and it was such a great offer for such a feature reach program. I have a library of routes of my past trips saved in it and I can access them from anywhere, including my phone since it's web-based...

    Basecamp

All my early longer rides learning the roads were done this way and I would use a ruler to figure out how many km to my next turn point and include that in my turn by turn list. So many small 'Y' intersections were never in the map books, so I always got lost and had to double back. A 6hr ride...

    Another Pancake Fix

Thanks for the post and reminder! I’m down for a pancake breakfast one of these days and this could make for a good stop on a Calabogie ride for us paved roads folks.
